Monster Hunter Wildsfeatures a variety of side quests as soon as you progress through the story. These mostly require you to hunt a specific monster that has been terrorizing the inhabitants of the region, but sometimes, they offer more insight into what is actually going on in the Forbidden Lands.
Among the many side quests, some were more fun than the rest, while others provided a brief respite from the challenges of the main scenario and offered exceptional rewards. The following is a ranking of some of the best side quests that the game has to offer.

8What We Protect
Requirements:
The What We Protect side quest is given to the Hunter by Alma. Alma tells you that the survey team in the Iceshard Cliffs area has been attacked by a Blangonga and hunting it down is required to ensure the safety of everyone.
Once you have defeated the Blangonga and completed the hunt, you will have to return to Alma to report it. The Hunter’s dialogue with Alma here discusses how guilty she feels for putting her team at risk, and, in gratitude, she shows you a place full of ancient relics and tells you that you’re the one who protected it all.

7Secure Wounded Hollow
The Secure Wounded Hollow side quest is given to the Hunter by Cobb at Suja. Accepting this side quest unlocks one of the first hunts where the Hunter has to take on two monsters at once, and in this case, two Hirabami.
While the quest mostly focuses on fighting against the two Hirabami at once, the rewards it offers easily make it one of the best side quests in the game. The Hunter receives the Armorcharm for completing this quest, an item that increases your defense by simply having it in your inventory.

6As Gatekeeper
Similar to the Secure Wounded Hollow side quest, the As Gatekeeper side quest is given to you by Rex, the other guard assigned by Fabius at Suja. The quest requires you to hunt two Ajarakan at the Wounded Hollow.
Fighting two Ajarakan can be extremely challenging. Luckily, you can pull the lever in the Wounded Hollow region to separate the two monsters and focus on one. Furthermore, you receive the Powercharm as a reward for completing the quest, which increases your attack power by simply having it in your inventory.

5Forest Doshaguma
The Forest Doshaguma side quest is given to the Hunter by Erik after he settles in the Scarlet Forest. The side quest requires you tocapture a Doshaguma in the Scarlet Forestarea to complete it.
Doshaguma in the Scarlet Forest hunt alone, unlike the ones in the Windward Plains who hunt in packs. Regardless, capturing a monster is slightly different from defeating one, and the difference is what makes this quest stand out among the rest. You’ll need to deploy traps and Tranq Bombs to successfully capture the Doshaguma and then return to Erik to report the quest’s completion.

4Samin’s Special Research Report
Samin and Dareel’s Research Report side quests usually ask the Hunter to find and capture rare endemic life all across the Forbidden Lands. However, Samin’s Special Research Report side quest takes things a bit too far and asks you to capture the Sandstar, possibly the most elusive creature in the Forbidden Lands.
Capturing the Sandstarin the Windward Plains is no easy task, and you’ll have to deploy some clever tactics to capture it. While the rewards that you get for completing this quest are quite underwhelming, it’s the effort that counts!

3The Catch Of A Lifetime
Side quests offered by Kanya usually have you exploring the Forbidden Lands and fishing in different spots to capture a specific kind of fish, butThe Catch of a Lifetime side questtakes it one step further and Kanya asks you to capture a whopper.
Capturing these large fish is much more difficult than catching any regular fish. Fortunately, Kanya is kind enough to give you new bait that will capture the attention of any unusually large fish.

2A Gutsy Move
A Gutsy Move is a side quest given to the Hunter by their Palico, and similar to a few previous Palico side quests, this one asks you tocapture a Giant Vigorwasp. While the quest itself isn’t that challenging, the reward it offers is too generous.
After completing this quest, your Palico will be able to save you whenever you’re knocked out on the field. Just the fact that your Palico is able to revive you, and it doesn’t count towards fainting, makes this quest absolutely worth doing because, in the High Ranks, some stray attack that you couldn’t dodge in time is enough to knock you out.

1Astonishing Adaptability
While this quest doesn’t give you any exceptional rewards, this quest is worth doing just for the lore. The Astonishing Adaptability side questis given to you by Tasheen in the Sild village inside the Ruins of Wyveria. Tasheen reports that a Keeper, by the name of Soshi, was abducted by a Xu Wu from the middle of the village.
As you progress through the quest and fight against the Xu Wu, you’ll find nothing but only what used to be Soshi’s clothing. Alma figures out that the reason why Xu Wu targeted a Keeper was because of their clothing which is made from Wylk, similar to the Guardians, and while the clothing may protect the Keepers from Guardians, it has made them Xu Wu’s target.
