Summary

Just three short days ago, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced on Steam. The game is an updated version of the now 12-year-old (!!) classic and is free to current owners ofGTA 5.

But, while GTA 5 is one of the most critically acclaimed, best-selling titles of all time, this upgraded version for PC players hasn’t gone down too well, and is now the lowest-rated title inthe seriesonSteam.

GTA 5 Enhanced Slammed By Players On Steam, Becomes Lowest Rated Game In The Series

As spotted byPCGamesN, Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced sits at “Mixed” reviews on the Valve-owned platform, with 51 percent positive reviews from almost 12,000 reviewers. This puts it right at the bottom of the pile for the GTA series on Steam, even worse than the much-maligned GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition.

That game, whichwas plagued with issues when it launched, now sits at an aggregate of 73 percent, according to PCGamesN. It’s actuallyGrand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Editionthat GTA 5 Enhanced has taken the crown from, with the 2023-released title sitting at a 66 percent positive review score.

PCGamesN reports that not only is Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced the worst-reviewed game in the series on Steam, but it’s actually the worst of anyRockstartitle on the platform. The only other game sitting below 70 percent is the PC port of Manhunt.

“Forcing A Large Percentage Of Your Players To Start Over Is Not A Great Look”

The reviews on GTA 5 Enhanced pull no punches, with players having a myriad of complaints about the game.

“I can’t migrate either of my two accounts. R* support is completely useless and can’t help. With the game being over 10 years old, I am sure as hell not going to completely restart all my progress. Enhanced should have been an update directly applied to the game we already had, not an entirely new game,” said one reviewer. Another faced a similar issue, calling it “Not a great look.”

Account issues weren’t the only issue with the game, though. Some complained about its performance, “Horrible stuttery mess, even when limiting fps to 60 (4090 sitting at below 50%), stutters like crazy CONSTANTLY!” Others about the way it looked, “Just played the game, looks blurry and washed out for some reason on highest details. Can’t turn on RTX; it’s just greyed out in the settings menu.”

It’s not a great start to life for Rockstar’s latest release, but if GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition taught us anything, the company won’t hang around to fix things.
