Summary
Alan Wake 2was a critical hit when it launched in 2023, winning a bunch of awards, including the top prize in three categories at The Game Awards. However, as with any game that’s exclusive to theEpic Games Store, some PC gamers avoided it at launch, waiting for aSteamrelease.
Now, it seems that they’re out of luck. An email purportedly from Tim Sweeney has been circulating online, in which the CEO ofEpic Gamessays that Alan Wake 2 isn’t coming to Steam at all. Now,80 Levelsays that Sweeney has confirmed that the email is legitimate, and that Alan Wake 2 is remaining Epic Games exclusive on PC.

It Looks Like Alan Wake 2 Isn’t Coming To PC After All
80 Level reports that this email from Tim Sweeney is legitimate
In the email,a Reddit userappears to reach out to Sweeney to make it clear they do not want to purchase Alan Wake 2 on the Epic Games Store, and asked when the game will be available on Steam. Sweeney apparently replied, simply writing, “It’s not coming to Steam”.
Alan Wake 2 was financed and published by Epic Games, so it’s not a surprise that it skipped Steam at launch. However, the game is still in the process of recouping its budget, so some assumed that it would eventually launch on Steam to give it another boost. That said,it had made most of its budget back by November of last year, so perhaps this isn’t necessary after all.
In any case, it looks like PC players interested in playing Alan Wake 2 will have to bite the bullet and buy it on Epic, or turn to console. Alan Wake 2 is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
