With so much to do inThe Sims 2, you’ll be busy managing households across neighborhoods. The most important things to focus on are the wants and fears of your beloved sims, as they determine the course they take in life. A miserable sim will lead a miserable life, meanwhile a happy one is sure to succeed in all areas of life!

Every sim is different, and they all have different desires. These are subject to change as time goes on, but we’ll help you sort out which ones are best and how you can keep your sims happy and fulfilled in life!

What Are Wants?

In The Sims 2, every simhas a total of four wantsat a time. These wants arebased around their aspirations and current events.

A sim that has the Knowledge Aspiration will more than likely want tobuy bookshelves, increase their logic skill, and have meaningful conversations. A sim with the Romance Aspiration will want to havemore dates and romantic interactionswith sims.

Likewise, a sim with the Grilled Cheese aspiration will want toeat grilled cheese. Constantly.

Fulfilling these wants willmake your sims happy, increasing their overall mood and aspiration meter. When your sim is in a good mood, they’re more likely todo what you askinstead of go off on their own.

If there’s a specific want you want your sim to hold onto, you canlock it by right-clickingon the desire. This willprevent the want from rerollingas life goes on.

Sims canobtain up to six want slots if they graduatefrom college!

What Is A Lifetime Want?

For sims, a Lifetime Want is their heart’s true desire. This isthe goal that keeps them goingand will keep them fulfilled throughout their lifetime. Upon achieving this goal, a simreceives a large amount of influence and aspirationpoints.

Platinum aspiration statuswill be obtained and slowly decay through the sim’s life, making itthe ultimate goal in marking a sim’s life as complete.

What Are Fears?

Fears are the opposite of wants. Simsstart with three fearsat a time, and if any come to fruition, they’ll lose a great deal of aspiration. Fears can be as simple asbeing rejected by othersto more dangerous scenarios, like fires or burglary.

Keep an eye on your sim’s fears andtake the necessary precautionsto protect them. Some fears cannot be avoided, but you may take action toreduce the damagedone. For example, asecurity system or smoke detectorcan keep your sim safe if the worst happens.

How To Fill The Aspiration Meter

To fill the aspiration meter, you’ll want tocontinue to fulfill the wants and desiresof your sims. This will helpimprove their mood and earn them rewardsthat can make their little lives that much easier.
