Over the last week, Arma Reforger andDayZservers have been down due to a DDOS attack perpetrated by Russian hacking group Xiangjang_zhi.

Bohemia Interactive’s Statement On The DDOS Attack

“We understand the frustration of the community with the server difficulties over the past week. And we know that many of you want answers,” the statement reads. “However, we cannot divulge details about the issue or the specifics of our efforts. We know this naturally leads to much community speculation, which we cannot prevent.

We deeply appreciate your patience and support, and we will keep fighting to ensure this situation is remedied and that everyone can enjoy Arma Reforger to its fullest as soon as possible.

“But we want to assure you: We take this very seriously. We are doing everything in our power to get all of you back in-game as quickly as possible. At the end of the day, our words don’t solve the problem. You all want to play the game, and we are the ones who need to make that happen. So if we’re more silent than you might want us to be, it’s because we’re focusing on solutions, not explanations. And we are making progress.”

It was initially reported that the group was demanding over $78,000 in Bitcoin as ransom to end the attack, but they later claimed on Telegram that this was just a joke. On Twitter, the group instead states that the attack is in protest at Bohemia due to the “suffering” of its players. As such, they claim that the attack will stop if Klamacz contacts them.

Just yesterday, the group tweeted, “DayZ players! [Behaviour Interactive] has been making false promises to you for several years, haven’t you noticed that? We want to see drastic changes in the company’s games, as well as in the company itself”.

However, the community has responded to these tweets with overwhelming negativity, as many call on the group to cease their attack and leave the games alone. As such, some speculate that there is no real motive, and that this is simply being done for ‘fun’ and attention.
