Video game leaks can occur in a number of ways. Hacker attacks are the worst kind, where someonemaliciously hacks into a developer database and might even hold the studio ransom. Then there’s third party leaks where a retailer may upload or display something before the embargo, and there’s also the old fashioned human error, where someone mistakenly slips up or posts something they’re not supposed to. And don’t even get me started onWar Thunder.
But, there are also some really unique ways that video game content or information gets leaked. For instance, the official digital artbook forAssassin’s Creed Shadowshas leaked in one of the most unlikely places you may think of.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Digital Artbook Has Leaked
In a rather bizarre series of events, the official digital artbook for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has leaked and been uploaded to a website that primarily deals in Japanese adult comics. Usually, you’d find video game leaks on sites like Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, Discord, or even private blogs, but not on a site like this.
However, it seems despite our surprise, the site in question is actually well known for hosting regular manga, guide books, or other such content. Regardless, you can view all 267 pages of the artbook on the site. If you’re not comfortable going to the site, there’s also an Imgur link available.
The artbook reveals tons of character, world, and UI/UX design concepts for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. What stands out the most to me are the armour and cosmetic concepts for Naoe and Yasuke, but in true Ubisoft manner, the coolest looking ones are locked behind a paywall, rather than available to unlock in the game.
Other than that, there are also concepts for two Portuguese Templars called Nuno Caro and Duarte de Melo, along with a number of historical figures like the legendary Hattori Hanzo and Lady Nene.
As for features that were revealed via this leak, it seems Assassin’s Creed Shadows will feature certain Japanese mythical animals, like the kitsune, red-crowned crane, and a white stag whose antlers are adorned with cherry blossoms – although, we don’t know their roles in the game yet.
There will also be a mercenary system like the previous games in the series. These ‘Henchmen’ will “relentlessly hunt you down if you’ve attracted the attention of the wrong people.”
