After years of waiting, the very first teaser trailer for the much-anticipatedWarhammer 40Kanimation Astartes 2 has been released, which confirms a 2026 release window and hints at the Deathwatch.

Whether you’re a casual fan of Warhammer 40K or someone who owns a Space Marine helmet replica, chances are good that you’ve heard about Astartes. The frankly jawdropping animated series from Syama Pedersen started life as a fan project all the way back in 2018, but soonbecame something much bigger that was officially supported by Games Workshop.

Following the final episode of Astartes, it was confirmed by Games Workshop in 2021 that anofficial sequel was being worked on and would debut at some point on Warhammer+, a streaming service for similar animation and shows. It’s been a long time since we’ve heard about Astartes 2, but that long wait is finally over.

Astartes 2 Gets Its First Teaser Trailer Four Years After Its Reveal

Earlier today, the official Warhammer YouTube page surprised us all by randomly releasing the first teaser trailer for Astartes 2. Games Workshop even seemed to be in on the joke of how long it’s been since we’ve heard about the project, as the official description for the teaser reads, “We didn’t forget”.

As for the teaser itself, it shows a range of Space Marine chapters, including Retributors, Blood Angels, Sons of Medusa, Mortifactors, and the Deathwatch. We only get to see brief glimpses of each of the chapters, but it seems to be hinting that the show will be about the Deathwatch, who will likely put together a five-man squad of the characters shown in the teaser.

Syama Pedersen has been mostly silent since Astartes 2 was announced, but he was recently credited in Secret Level’s Warhammer 40K episode.

Alongside the new trailer,a blog post for Astartes 2 was shared on the Warhammer Community pagewhich gives some more details about the project. The highlight (or major downside depending on how patient you are) of the post is the confirmation that Astartes 2 will be arriving at some point in 2026.

Strangely, the post also reveals that the teaser trailer doesn’t actually include any clips from the animation,as it’s instead a compilation of shots that represent the lives of the characters who will appear in the show. That once again hints at the Deathwatch, although we won’t know for sure until the projectfinallyreleases.
