Summary
Baldur’s Gate 3fan u/Arden-Nova was digging through the files yesterday using an unlocked version of the modding toolkit, and happened across a fun little dev note forAstarion actor Neil Newbon.
The note is specifically for a romance scene afterwe stop Cazador’s ritual, in which Astarion says, “It’s time to try living again, with everything that life has to offer.” Under the dialogue box, one dev stressed that it should be “Slightly horny. (ONLY SLIGHTLY, NEIL)”.
This was corroborated by commenter u/Hyperspace_Towel, who shared another view of the note after digging through the files using Moonglasses.
Listening back to the scene again shows that, as u/Redfox1476 puts it, “The man knows how to take direction.”
It’s a lot more subdued than Astarion’s more iconic, flamboyant line readings, and maybe this little note from the devs yelling at Neil is to thank for that. But of course, the top comment from u/lulufan87 demands Larian Studios “release the horny take”.

It’s a more subtle, intimate moment, but some fans can’t help but hear horny in Astarion no matter what he’s doing.
“Even when he’s not supposed to sound horny he sounds horny,” u/meanmagpie said. “Every time I put Astarion into stealth, the way he whispers makes me uncomfortable.”
Maybe the devs felt the same, eh? It would certainly explain the all-caps note.
