Summary

Another day, another unique interaction in Baldur’s Gate 3. You have to commendLarian Studiosfor considering the sheer variety of potential interactions with Baldur’s Gate 3’s hundreds of characters. It’s a testament to the game’s script, which is over 2 million words long.

This recent discovery takes place in Act 1’s Blighted Village, a former Selunite colony now inhabited by unsavoury types. The northern side of the village contains a group of goblins who have tied Barcus Wroot to a spinning windmill. As shown byConfident-Release-37 in a Reddit thread, you can trigger unique dialogue with these goblins if you approach the group as a Druid wild-shaped into a creature.

Having a Gawk

The poster approaches the group as a giant spider, prompting Fezzerk to address them incredulously. “What’s this? Local wildlife havin' a gawk? Kill it - that thing will roast up nicely for our supper,” the goblin says. This eliminates any pacifist way of dealing with the goblins, but I suppose approaching anyone as a gargantuan venomous spider isn’t exactly asking for diplomacy. I’m sure Barcus is appreciative of the help, even if his saviour has eight legs.

Wild Shape remains one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s most unintentionally comedic features. For example, if you’re playing as the Dark Urge and you defeat Orin in a duel for Bhaal’s heart, and you’re wild-shaped as you strike the final blow, then the ensuing cutscene is a sight to behold. Sceleritas Fel screeches that Bhaal is near and ascension is almost upon you before the camera cuts to a dead-eyed Dilophosaurus. You can also sit down very politelywhile wild-shaped as an Owlbear, which is cute.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of those special RPGs where players will continue to find new tidbits and unique interactions for years after its release. Although Larian’s active support of the title is coming to an end with the release of Patch 8, the studio has given us plenty of content to pore over in the coming years. Thenew patchis set to add crossplay, photo mode and several new subclasses, and is currently in closed testing. Patch 8 has yet to receive a specific release date.
