You later find out that there is a reason that you and the rest of the gang are unaffected while others aren’t as lucky. However, if you actuallywantthe threat of ceremorphosis hanging over you, then we have the perfect mod for you.
Countdown to Ceremorphosisby Nexus Mods user Cheek is exactly that - a mod that kicks off the timer until your character (and everyone else with a tadpole) is turned into a mind flayer. This gives you seven in-game days to beat Baldur’s Gate 3’s story, and even debuffs you each day to reflect the stages of ceremorphosis. If you don’t defeat the Netherbrain in time, then all of the tadpole’d companions turn into mind flayers, and you get a game over.

Every time you long rest, you lose a point in all of your stats. If any stat hits zero you die, even if you’re not full-mind flayer yet.
The mod doesn’t just add the countdown and daily debuffs, it also changes howattempted cures- likeletting Volo poke around in your eyesocket- work. Now, they halt ceremorphosis progressing for a night, letting you get some rest. However, it only works once, so you’ll have to be strategic when it comes to choosing which character gets the treatment.
Even with this in mind, I am baffled as to how anyone could beat the game while using long rests so sparingly. I suppose there are other ways to give yourself the benefit of a long rest, but they can be hard to find, especially early on in the game. All in all, this could be the mother of all challenge runs.
