Summary
Disco Elysiumis an incredible game that probably shouldn’t even exist. With the amount of trouble that went on over at the game’s developer ZA/UM,which led to mass layoffs and an exodus of talent, it’s probably a small miracle that Disco Elysium launched at all. It’s such an influential title that it’s no surprise that we have so many spiritual successors in the works by former developers.
In fact, three studios announced spiritual successors on the same daylast year, and just like the situation at ZA/UM, things haveinevitably taken a drama-filled, controversial turnfor the worse. With so many out there, it’s clear that attempts need to be made to try and set each game apart, and it appears as though one studio attempted to do that by getting some top drawer acting talent on board.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Karlach Actor Refuses To Work On Disco Elysium Successors
Unfortunately for that studio, whichever of the many it may be, they ended up talking to an actor that wants nothing to do with their project. Earlier today,Baldur’s Gate 3and Karlach actor Samantha Béarttook to Twitter(thanks GamesRadar) in an attempt to warn the creators of the many Disco Elysium spiritual successor that they’re wasting their time by trying to approach her for work.
In fact, the only way that Béart would be down to work on one of them is if original Disco Elysium creator Robert Kurvitz was on board, but considering none of these studios actually do right now, it seems they’re out of luck. Probably best to take her advice and “miss [her] with that casting call”.
For the Disco Elysium fans crossing their fingers that Kurvitz and Béart will work together in the future, as it sounds like the latter would definitely like to, you’ll have to keep an eye out on the activity of Red One Ltd, which Kurvitz set up with former Disco Elysium lead artist Aleksander Rostov. We don’t know what they’re working on right now, so maybe there is hope that Béart is invlved in some way.
