Summary
The classes inAvowedaren’t hard-set paths that you must choose at the start of the game and stick with. Instead, they are a style of combat you start with and suggest where you want to take your skill set. You can mix and match to your heart’s content. It will make ranking these classes complex. Nevertheless, the Wheel continues to turn, and so shall we.
Your class preferences will depend on how you like to play. Would you prefer to take a heavy weapon and slash your way through enemies? Then a Fighter is your winner. If blowing things up with the elements is more your style (and let’s be honest, who isn’t it?), then, pick up a grimoire or wand and pop off. But which one is the most adaptable and gives the most advantage?

4Godlike
Phenomenal Cosmic Power, But Slow Unlocking Rate
Becoming the chosen one of a mysterious god can be a dangerous thing. You become the target of threats both in your face and from the shadows, and the next thing you know, the world-ending threat is looming down on the land, staring you dead in the face. In other games, the trade-off feels worth it; the power you gain can make you feel like you’re a walking deity in your own right.
While you are a deity in namesake, the powers you get from your namesake as Godlike are few and far between. Instead, your boons come more in the form of passive memories that make your adventure to the truth slightly easier. Some of these abilities include:

That isn’t to say there aren’t some abilities you can’t gain as you progress. Eventually, you can command the thorns and earth to damage your enemies and even summon a being from the earth itself with Woedica’s Call. Still, if you’re the type of player to grind out your character’s abilities with side quests or bounties, you’ll already be strong enough before unlocking those skills through the story beats.
3Fighter
Powerful, But Vulnerable To Prolonged Damage
It comes with the territory of preferring a sword, or ax, and shields over subterfuge or sorcery: if you get in the front line of fire, expect to take more damage. Fighters are the closest thing you get to tanks in Avowed. The thing is, the Fighter class being precisely as you expect it to be is both its strength and its weakness. Sure, you’re swinging hard and heavy with powerful attacks. You even learn some excellent skills you can combine with other classes, like:
However, just because you’re able to put yourself amid the fray doesn’t mean you always should. There are going to be plenty of encampments and dungeons that will have scores of enemies that can and will quickly overwhelm you strictly off of numbers and, for some reason, will always have a bear or two with them for good measure. Creating space can be the better option in most cases.

2Wizard
Very Powerful Spells, But Squishy In Defense
By looking at the skill trees alone, it’s clear that Wizard has an advantage regarding the variety and number of abilities you’re able to utilize. Ranger and Fighter have a decent 18 and 19 skills, respectively, while Wizard comes swinging with a whopping 32 spells to master! Sure, some are passive, butmany are spells you can add to your arsenal. This class probably has one of the strongest starting skill lineups with:
Despite its seemingly endless possibilities, two hits from a potent weapon are all it takes for you to become incapacitated. It’s a high-risk, high-reward choice going pure Wizard, so the game encourages you to mix and mingle the classes together and evolve from a glass cannon to an effective one.

1Ranger
One Clear Advantage Over The Rest
As mentioned earlier, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the number of enemies rushing at you as you try to recover stamina or Essence.Spells and swinging weapons will only get you so farbecause of this, so what will you do: run around in circles and down potions until you’re good? Most likely, yes, but Ranger offers you a straightforward skill of reprieve: Tanglefoot. Though this skill is the clear lifesaver and star of the show, there are plenty of other viable skills to consider:
While all of those skills are worth unlockingwith your skill points eventually, Tanglefoot will save your life from the beginning of the game and 40–50 hours later. If that isn’t enough to convince you to give this class a try, there is another reason you should: you get to summon a bear if that isn’t enough to sway you. What more can you ask for in a class?
