Endemic Life is an important aspect ofMonster Hunter Wilds. These creatures can assist you during your hunts in a variety of ways, like restoring health, inflicting monsters with status effects, or providing ammo for your Slinger.
There are dozens of different types of Endemic Life, but not all of them serve a purpose. There is currently no way to display captured Endemic Life like in Monster Hunter Worlds, but there are still several types of Endemic Life that are worth grabbing during your hunts, which we’ll take a look at below.
7Vigorwasp And Giant Vigorwasp
Vigorwasps and Giant Vigorwasps are some of the most reliable forms of Endemic Life in Wilds, as they provide the universally useful effect of restoring your health.
While this effect can easily be achieved by a number of different items that you’ll always want to have on-hand, Vigorwasps are often more convenient and faster to grab than drinking a Mega Potion. Plus, your Palico will sometimes bring over a nearby Vigorwasp when you lose health, letting you quickly heal up and get back into the fight.
Vigorwasps can also be used when hit with your weapon, so you don’t even need to sheath your weapon to take advantage of them.
6Purewasp
Purewasps function very similarly to Vigorwasps, but they restore less health. To compensate, they will also create an area that cleanses status ailments, which can be extremely useful when fighting monsters that frequently apply them, likeRathian’s poisonorLala Barina’s paralysis.
Like Vigorwasps, your Palico may also carry over a nearby Purewasp when you are inflicted with a status ailment, allowing you to quickly recover. While you may’t store these Endemic Life creatures for later use, they can be invaluable at the right moment.
5Flashflies
Flashflies are glowing yellow bugs that, when activated or hit with a Slinger shot, will unleash a burst of light, instantly dazing nearby monsters. This can be used to great effect against a monster that is preparing its ultimate attack, or flying monsters like Rathalos that are in the air for too long.
Keep in mind that some monsters are immune to the effects of Flashflies.Monsters like Nu Udrathat don’t have visible eyes, or a burrowing Balahara will not be affected by Flashflies. Luckily, Flashflies don’t affect you or your partners, so you don’t need to worry about blinding yourself when activating them.
4Heatmantle Bug And Chillmantle Bug
When fighting in certain areas of the Oilwell Basin or Iceshard Cliffs, you’ll need to keep an eye on your temperature. In previous Monster Hunter games, you would need to drink a Cool or Hot Drink, respectively. Monster Hunter Wilds introduces the Chillmantle and Heatmantle Bugs, which provide similar, although shorter, effects.
Although they don’t last for as long as the Drinks, Heatmantle and Chillmantle Bugs can be a great way to save on resources while preventing the detrimental effects of temperature, especially if you forget to bring along your Cool or Hot Drinks.
3Wiggly Litchi
These little bugs are Bow and Dual Dagger-wielders' best friends. When eaten, Wiggly Litchis increase your stamina while halving the rate at which it depletes. This is perfect for players using the Bow, Dual Daggers, or any other stamina-hungry weapon.
Some weapons end up using more stamina than others, but almost all of them can benefit from having more, so it’s never a bad idea to grab a Wiggly Litchi if you come across one during a hunt.
These three toads all provide a one-time effect when activated in a small area. The Paratoad will release a cloud that paralyzes the monster, the Sleeptoad releases a cloud of gas that puts them to sleep, and the Nitrotoad explodes, dealing damage and staggering the monster.
Just like with Flashflies, some monsters may be immune to the effects produced by these Toads, so keep that in mind before activating them. The exception is the Nitrotoad, as its explosion will always deal damage, even if it doesn’t always stagger the monster.
1Dung Beetle
In Monster Hunter Wilds, Dung is more important than ever. With how quests work in Wilds, monsters are more likely to appear in the same area at the same time, and some species like Hirabami tend to appear in groups more frequently.
To avoid getting overwhelmed by fighting multiple monsters at once, you’re able to use Dung Pods to force the intruders to flee. Grabbing a Dung Beetle will load your Sligner with Dung Pods, so it’s a great idea to pick these up if you ever find yourself facing down multiple monsters.
