Summary
Part of what makesYakuza and Like A Dragongames so thoroughly enjoyable is the staggering amount of variety.Pirate Yakuza In Hawaiirepresents the series' dedication to varied gameplay perfectly, with an example being the detailed ship customization.
Traveling around on the Goromaru is a fun way of making the world of Pirate Yakuza feel massive and gives plenty of opportunities for wider exploration. If you’re looking to make the ship feel more ‘you’, then there are plenty of options for customization, but which is the best?

8Big Catch Sails
Sold At Ganryujima Armory In Honolulu
While Pirate Yakuza thoroughly takes advantage of its Hawaiian setting, there are still plenty of reminders of the series' Japanese setting with some of the more culturally inspired options for decorating the Goromaru.
Compared to some of the other more showy designs, there are plenty of ways you’re able to build your ship to make the Big Catch sails part of an aesthetically pleasing vision, especially since it has three different color schemes to choose from. It’s also a perfect option if you love grapple hooking innocent fish out of the sea when Majimas’s looking for some seafood ingredients.

7Pretty Hull
Available In The Hull Customization Menu
It wouldn’t be a Like A Dragon game if there wasn’t a constant barrage of clashing tones, and what better represents this than the Pretty design for the Goromaru’s hull.
By the end of the Pirate Yakuza campaign, the Goro Pirates will inspire fear in every enemy ship that they encounter, so what better way to make this situation more absurd than covering the ship in a flashy white and pink colour scheme with anime girls plastered on the sides? In spite of how bright and colorful it is, it’s one of the easier designs to match with specific trims and sails to make a ship that looks cohesive.

6Saejima Sails
Available In The Sail Customization Menu
While there are plenty of original characters introduced in Pirate Yakuza, there are also a few cameos and returning characters from the extended Like A Dragon and Yakuza universe, with the best example of this being Saejima, who goes as far as to join Majima’s crew.
With Saejima being Majima’s sworn brother, and a recurring character since the very first game, it’s great to see the gruff former family head get some love with the Saejima sail design. If you’re looking to rep another of yourfavourite Yakuza characters, you could also choose the similarly designed Majima sails, but for that you’ll need to get every Aloha Link in the game.

5Admiral Fowl Figurehead
Sold At Black Boat In Madlantis
One of the more charming side objectives you can participate in during Pirate Yakuza is the Goro Paridise zoo back on Rich Island. Throughout your adventure you can recruit various animals to fill this enclosure, and the first is the chicken Phoenix.
Majima quickly forms a connection with the feathered creature moments before its neck is about to be wrung, and it becomes the inaugural pet for the zoo. If you’ve grown as close to Phoenix as Majima has, you can represent the poultry with the Admiral Fowl figurehead wherever you sail.

4Neon Trim
Sold At Hyper Ecstasy In Honolulu
Even though Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii, as the name suggests, takes place in Hawaii, it’s always nice to remember the origins of the series in Kamurocho Tokyo.
If you’re feeling nostalgic for the nightlife of this district of Tokyo and want to represent it in Pirate Yakuza, then customizing the Goromaru with the Neon trim is a perfect way to show your love for the series' origins. While this is the only trim specifically called Neon, there are a few other designs that feature neon signs, so depending on the rest of your ship, you might find one that better suits your overall vision.

3Kraken Figurehead
Sold On Nolan’s Boat In Aloha Beach
While Majima starts his adventure in Pirate Yakuza as an amnesiac, one of the first details he remembers is that he lost his memories while fighting a giant squid before getting shipwrecked.
That’s why it’s so satisfying to finally get to take down the behemoth in the game’s closing hours during ship combat. If you’re particularly proud of your achievement, you can use the design of the squid as your figurehead as a trophy of your fallen enemy.

2Tiger Trim
Available In The Trim Customization Menu
While Majima is quite an unhinged and unpredictable personality, his more unnerving side is toned down in Pirate Yakuza thanks to being followed bythe charming Noah Richand the boy’s adorable pet baby tiger (or cat according to him), Goro.
Goro, sharing our protagonist’s first name, is the unofficial mascot of the Goromaru pirates, being their namesake before Majima even remembers his own full name. If you’re looking to show your love for your feline companion, then you can represent a more grown-up version of him with the Tiger trim for the Goromaru.

1Leopard Print Hull
With Pirate Yakuza being the first game where Majima takes the lead role, it’s no wonder that there are plenty of customization options for the Goromaru that reflect design motifs from his previous appearances.
Throughout the extensive Like A Dragon series, Majima has worn a variety of different outfits, but one subtle detail that keeps re-appearing with him is leopard print. While some could call the busy paint job for the hull gaudy, it feels like a perfect representation of Majima’s taste.
