Summary
The Sims: Makin’ Magicis one of themost acclaimed expansionsin the game’s history. Makin’ Magic introduced magical realism to the series, making The Sims a place where wizards and witches could wander the streets, and spells were as common as a hello. The series would later expand upon these ideas to introduce life states like vampires, PlantSims, and werewolves.
The focus of Makin’ Magic was the ability for Sims to, well, make magic. A ton of magic spells were introduced to the game, and some of them were totally out of this world. Grab your wand and your black cats: these are the best spells from The Sims: Makin’ Magic.

10Toadification
If your Sim has encountered a particularly repellant person, Toadification is the perfect spell to teach them a lesson. If cast on a Sim without a magic wand, they will turn into a slimy green toad. This toad will have to be kissed to return to its true state, which will be hopefully a little wiser.
But be warned: if you cast this spell on somebody with a wand, they will turn it back on you and turn you into a toad. Sims turned into a toad this way will hop off the lot and never return.

What would make a return is this spell itself - Toadification returns in The Sims 3, which is a sign of how iconic the original spell was.
9Enchant
An Enchanting Spell
The Enchant spell is a charming little charm that can bring objects to life. Refrigerators will open and close, chess sets will play themselves, and garden gnomes will start to tend to your garden. But what is most remembered is the effect Enchant has on lawn flamingos.
Enchanted lawn flamingos will turn into dancing show girls that flutter about the house chatting with Sims. Who needs ‘Swan Lake’ when you have the Enchant spell? You can create your own magic birds at home. Just be careful what you cast it on, as a failure means a fire. And we all know how Sims react to fire.

8Shed Your Skin
Giving Up The Ghost
Have you ever wanted to be a ghost without all the problems that come with it - namely being dead? The Shed Your Skin spell allows your Sim to turn into a ghost. Sims will float around being spooky, scaring Sims and haunting a house like a natural born ghost.
If the spell backfires, a bunch of snakes will infest the house. While not ideal, this is far from the worst backfire a spell can have. This seems like a win/win for a spell.

7Beauty Or Beast
Tale As Old As Time?
Whiledifferent life statesdon’t exist in The Sims, the Beauty or Beast spell allows Sims to explore different cosmetic life states. Using this spell allows Sims to take on the facade of Frankenstein’s monster, fairies, and even genies.
But beware - a failure will result in the Sim and Sims around them turning into mules. Now that’s making an ass out of yourself…

Frankenstein’s monster is exclusive to The Sims, so make sure to soak up this unique experience while using this spell.
6Rain Of Riches
It’s Raining Money
Now here’s an alternative to spamming rosebud again and again. The Rain of Riches spell allows for Sims to summon falling treasure. This treasure is worth a ton of simoleons, so raking up the cash is easier than ever with the Rain of Riches spell.
If the spell backfires, rain clouds will be summoned to torment the Sim. This is one of the more mundane backfire effects, which makes the Rain of Riches spell worth the effort.

5The Price Of Fame
Remember My Name
Want to be famouswithout doing very much? The Price of Fame spell will send you right to the top with just a shake of a wand. The Price of Fame spell, which is only usable with the Superstar expansion pack, will make your Sim a massive celebrity. This is great for those who want to get ahead in the fame-related careers (or for those who just want to skip the grind).
But, there’s a catch: a horde of the Obsessed Fan NPC will manifest if this spell fails. This NPC is a particularly annoying NPC that will stalk famous Sims and even dump black roses on their doorstep. One is already a trial. Imagine a group of them…yikes.

4Clone Drone
Corporate Drones (Literally)
The Sims can be a bit of a grind sometimes. Sims go to work, Sims come back. Now what if we said that you could find a way to be in two places at once? What if you could send somebody else to your job while you stay at home and eat Quick Meals. The Clone Drone spell creates dopplegangers of your Sim.
They can go to work for your Sim, and can even get promoted. A word of warning: failed clones may explode and cause fires. But come on, isn’t that worth it for a day off?

3Magi Mood
Gift Of The Magi
Keeping Sims happy can be a nightmare. They’re always hungry or tired or smelly. The Magi mood spell is an answer to the prayers of desperate Sims everywhere. This spell will put any lucky Sim’s motives in the green. This means they will be perfectly content in every need.
The catch is that this spell cannot be used on yourself. It is a true act of altruism. A further catch is that this spell will turn the recipient’s head into a donkey’s head if it fails, which may not make them very happy.

2Of House And Home
Home Is Where The Heart Is
With all these expansion packs to play, do you think your Sims have time to clean? Absolutely not. There’s a whole world out there to explore. That’s where the Of House and Home spell comes in. This risky little spell will clean everything in your house in the blink of an eye…if you’re lucky.
If you’re not lucky, well, let’s just say you won’t be going out any time soon. Your Sims will be too busy repairing every single object in the house. A failure breaks everything in the house that can be broken, which will no doubt make the house even messier while your Sims frantically mop puddles and unlock toilets. Best be careful with this spell.

1Relationship Boost
From Here To Friendship
With so much of The Sims’ career system riding on making friends, the Relationship Boost spell is one of the most important in the game. This spell, if successfully cast, will boost that Sim’s relationship with the caster by 25 points.
There are other spells that can cause more concrete changes in relationship, like making friends or falling in love, but this spell is the most versatile version of the relationship spells. The consequence of failure is also not as severe as other spells, as the relationship only falls by 25 points. This spell is easy to cast and easy to use, and will make befriending other Sims a breeze.
