Summary
Thanks to Dungeons & Dragons, the idea that magic comes from the Weave has spread among fantasy and might have gotten intoEternal Strands. This action-adventure fantasy title has you playing Brynn, a Weaver (magic user), on an adventure to investigate a region that has been sealed for decades.
While there, she’ll need to rely on her magic and weaponry if she hopes to survive long enough to solve the mysteries of the area. The good news is that she has a great team and plenty of resources to harvest. Gather what you can to make some armor and, hopefully, some of the most potent weapons you could wield.
Eternal Strands lets you craft weapons using whatever materials you find, but recipes define ingredients by type rather than specific resources (e.g., asking for ‘Carved Resource,’ not ‘Softwood’). The weapons' appearance and stats will differ depending on the materials you use.
8Frost Two-Hander
A Cool Power Slam
Ice is nice… Okay, now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about two-handed weapons. Typically, these are giant slabs of metal that the average person could neverdream of lifting, but Brynn does it like a boss. It’s the last weapon type she’ll find on her journey, and one of the first versions she can wield is Frost Two-Hander.
Not only does it have solid base power and knockback, but it also has the innate magic ability to send out three walls of ice. Considering how slow the weapon is, freezing groups or at least creating obstacles is convenient.
7Flame Bow
Be A Real Hotshot
If there’s one ranged fantasy weapon that never loses style, it’s the Flame Bow. Brynn can find the schematics for her very own Flame Bow by doing light searching.
Fire is very fickle, especially in this world where it can spread… like wildfire. So, having a weapon that shoots flaming arrows that explode on impact and keeps the fire starting far away from Brynn is an excellent choice.
6Frost Sword And Shield
Keeping An Icy Balance
Brynn is a skilled weaver and adventurer trained in all sorts of weaponry but started her training with the Sword And Shield staple. It’s the fastest melee weapon type she has, allowing for mobility, balance, and the chance to stun enemies with parries.
But if you’re terrible with timing, then the Frost Sword And Shield gives you more options. It sends out ice streaks wherever you aim them to immobilize enemies and create distance so that you’re able to quickly get to a better position. It’s also good to have a fast Frost weapon to hunt fast Fire enemies.
5Kinetic Two-Hander
Swinging With Gravity
You’ve committed to long-reach, heavy damage, low speed, and minimal defense by wielding a Two-Hander weapon. These weapons are useful for targeted damage and plowing through groups of enemies, but sometimes, you need some extra power. It can be used to shove back enemies to give yourself space and possibly stun them, but the Kinetic Two-Hander is different.
This is the version you want if you want to make enemies feel helpless. With a powered-up swing, you can launch even the most defensive enemies high into the air as you follow them upwards. From there, you can bring the blade of judgment down on them or move somewhere more appealing.
4Ice Wall
Makes Everything Chill
Remember that scene in The Incredibles where Frozone tries to slow down the giant robot by creating ice walls? Well, now you can do that with the spell Ice Wall… doesn’t that naming work out nicely? It’s one of Brynn’s starting spells, but it’s also one you’ll find yourself using quite a lot on everything.
It creates solid objects, puts out fires, provides cover, and immobilizes most enemies. When used on flying beasts, it weighs them down so they can’t easily escape and gives them something to deal with. Freeze the world to your advantage and then break the ice.
3Molten Barrage
Lava Bursting Everywhere
There aren’t many opportunities to control lava and make eruptions happen across the field, but Eternal Strands wants to give that to you. When Brynn delves deeper into the earth, she can take down a hulking lava titan and steal its magic to gain a molten barrage.
By placing magic runes around the field, you can trigger multiple eruptions that will send balls of lava flying around in arcs around the field. It helps deal with combos of fire damage and covers the field in a harmful blaze that will burn through enemy health.
2Weaver’s Grasp
Move Everything Away
Brynn’s arguable trademark ability is Weaver’s Grasp, which allows her to grab things with a strand of purple energy. She can pick up rocks, blocks, containers, trees, debris, enemies, and enemy gear and then launch them into the distance.
The more powered up it gets, the bigger the things Brynn can lift and the further she can launch them. This is a fun fighting ability, considering how many areas have bottomless pits.
1Ember’s Servant
A Little Burning Buddy
We could all use more minions for various reasons, but bringing them into the fold without resources or power is difficult. Brynn doesn’t seem like the minion-having type, but she can get such power by slaying a giant bird-man statue and getting her hands on the Ember’s Servant.
Enemies will start appearing in groups frequently early on, so having a little fiery buddy to help you out is a blessing. The little guy will run around the field and head to the nearest target to punch their knees. They get more potent and effective with upgrades, but their true powers lie in their explosive exit whenever they fall into battle.
