Summary

Black & White from Lionhead Studios launched to overwhelming critical acclaim back in 2001. While the team would later go on to be better known for theFableseries, Black & White is still fondly remembered by many, seen as one of the best god games ever released.

Now, for some unfathomable reason, you’re able to’t purchase it anywhere.EAowns the rights to the game, but it was never re-released outside of PC and its Mac port a year later. It’s now considered abandonware, although some hold out hope that it will eventually see the light of day once more.

The GOG Dreamlist, showing that the most requested games are: Black & White, Command & Conquer, and Black & White 2

Other Lionhead games are rising through the charts too. Fable 2 is trending right now, with fanspushing for both that and Fable 3 to be re-released on PC. This would be huge, as Fable 2 never actually made it to PC back at launch, so it would be the first time we’ve been able to play it outside ofXbox 360.

Black & White lead Peter Molyneux is returning to the god game genre, withMasters of Albion announced at Gamescom last year.

Fable’s chances are much higher than Black & White’s - EA has gone this long without doing anything with the IP, after all. But who knows? Maybe it will finally take notice of the thousands of fans pleading for a re-release, and give them what they want.
