Summary

Bloodbornefans are arguably the most tortured fanbases out there. Sure, theHollow Knight: Silksongfandom hasbeen slowly descending into chaos recently, but at least they know a game is actually in development and will be released at some point. Bloodborne fans have no such luxury, jumping at shadowsand pining for a remaster or remake that they have no idea is in development or not.

However, unlike Hollow Knight: Silksong, fans of Bloodborne can actually do something about their long wait.Tired of being disappointed by the lack of PC ports and remasters, they’ve been steadily creating their own over the past year via a popular emulator called ShadPS4, slowly working on the game and improving its performance.

At the start of the project in July, fans could only get the character creation screen running properly, but after lots of hard work, they eventually got the title playable. It was finishedfrom beginning to end not too long after, andsomeone had even managed to platinum the game on PC last month. Now, it seems as though Bloodborne fans have managed to create a full-blown remaster.

Bloodborne Fans Have Managed To Create An Almost Perfect Remaster On PC

Earlier this week, notable tech channel Digital Foundrydecided to jump into the emulated PC version of Bloodborne to see how it fares in comparison to the PS4/PS5 locked version we’re stuck with. What they found was a version of Bloodborne that actually performs far better than it does on PlayStation consoles, with version 0.5.1 of ShadPS4 being able to run Bloodborne from start to end without crashing, all while running at a fairly consistent 60fps.

To actually get it running on PC, all you need is the emulator itself, anda mod called Vertex Explosion Fix from creator RainmakerV2to stop your character’s face from exploding, as ShadPS4 can’t currently handle face customization properly. Apart from that, you can play Bloodborne at 1080p at 60fps near flawlessly, and other fans are working on making Bloodborne look even better.

A modder called Fromsoftserve has beenworking on a Bloodborne PC Remaster Project for a little while, which improves shadows, lighting, and antialiasing to vastly improve Bloodborne’s visuals. Using this mod will inevitably take a hit to the frame rate, but it’s essentially a remaster of Bloodborne running at roughly 45 frames per second.

It’s also worth noting that the work on ShadPS4 is still ongoing, so the performance levels will only improve as time goes on. Given how dramatic the improvements are with each version of ShadPS4, it’s very likely we’ll be able to cobble together a remastered version of Bloodborne and run it better on PC than PlayStation consoles before the company itself finally decides to release an official version. If they ever do, that is.
