Gamingas a whole is constantly filled with “What Ifs,“particularly when it comes to canceled titles. Most recently, that “What If"extended to Monolith Productions' Wonder Woman game, which was unceremoniously canceled last week.
ForXboxfans, that game is almost certainlyScalebound, the canceled action RPG being developed byPlatinumGames. Originally revealed in 2014, it never made it to its planned release in 2016,before eventually being delayed then canceled altogether in 2017. Much like fans, all these years later, the game is on the mind of its former director, Hideki Kamiya.
You Know What To Do, Phil
On Twitter, Clovers Inc., the independent studio being headed by Kamiya, shared a video of the famous director showcasing his defunct project to other employees.
While the gameplay is hard to see, it’s evident by the sound of Kamiya’s voice that it’s a project that he’s proud of. “I’d love to make it again someday,” the post read.
From there, Kamiya took things a step further, taking to his own Twitter account to share the post, before adding, “Let’s do it, Phil!” That Phil, of course, is Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft’s gaming division.
As GameSpot pointed out, Microsoft ultimately owns the IP, and it would be up to Spencer and Co. to decide whether they’d want to revive it after all. That said, complicating things even further is the fact that the game was in development at Platinum, and Kamiya is no longer there. Oh,and Kamiya is currently working on the long-awaited Okami sequel. Which is to say, never say never, but it’s also a longshot.
