Summary

Civilization 7doesn’t launch until February 11, but it’s available now for anyone who has picked up the deluxe or founders edition. Unsurprisingly, this means that some are already digging through the game files, and they’ve been quick to make discoveries.

As shared over in the Civilization subreddit, there appears to be a bunch of unused content in the game files. So far, fans have found three unused leaders, five civilizations, and evena fourth age: the Atomic Age. And while this might just be a case of content that was scrapped mid-development, some fear that it’s traces of a future expansion pack.

Civilization 7 Players Find Cut Content In Game Files

It’s unclear if this is content that is never seeing the light of day, or future DLC

These discoveries were first shared by Reddit user ManByTheRiver11. Here’s a list of what was found in their community:

“I think it means we’re getting a fourth age, and a lot of new civs,” writes ManByTheRiver11. “Great! I guess. But I wish they included the fourth age in base game tho.”

Fans aren’t sure if we’re getting all of this content in future DLC, especially since the Atomic Age has little to do with the other files found in the datamine. So, either that’s being added separately, or some (or all) of this is just cut content, abandoned at some point in development.

We’ll have to wait and see if this lines up with the ongoing support Civilization 7 receives down the line. Right now, it’s unclear how far work on this content has gone, but this could very well be our first hint at what’s to come. In any case, updates are coming, as developer Firaxis vows to addressplayer complaints.
