Summary

It sounded almost too good to be true that Team17’s ambitious new dating simulatorDate Everythingwas going to be ready in time for a Valentine’s Day release, and turns out it was. Sassy Chap’s debut game isn’t going to be quite ready in time to launch on the most romantic day of the year and is now aiming for a release date sometime in June of this year.

The update on Date Everything’s launch, and confirmation that it will be here in five months rather than two weeks, comes via a statement issued today by the game’s lead designer, Ray Chase. Chase informs those eager to play the game that even though Date Everything is up to a standard that meets their “bonkers artistic vision”, there are still creases that need to be ironed out before the game is made available to the public.

date everything statement about its delay.

Since this is a video game, those creases are bugs, and those bugs can’t all be dealt with within the next two weeks. “I was too confident that we could properly test all the wild amount of content and pathing that exists, and unfortunately we ran out of time,” Chase goes on to say in their statement.

While the list of bugs is slowly being dealt with, Chase admits that it’s disappointing Date Everything won’t be ready for what would have been the perfect release date, July 19, 2025. In keeping with the game’s name and premise, Chase signs off by saying you can even date its glitches, and that they’re currently in a love/hate relationship with one named Daemon.

As for what the premise of Date Everything is, it’s that you can date everything, and it means it. There will be 100 inanimate objects you can interact with once the game is complete that turn into humans for you to befriend and chat up. Those objects include a TV, what appears to be a rather stressed-out laundry basket, and a vacuum cleaner that turns into a man named Henry Hoove. I see what you did there.

Our very own Rhiannon Bevanhad the chance to preview Date Everythinglast year, chatting up a friendly group of himbo coat hangers during her sneak peek at what exactly the game will include. Seems that despite what appears to be a focus on quantity over quality on the surface, Date Everything runs deep, and a willingness to sacrifice the perfect release date to verify everything is just-so further demonstrates that.
