Days Gone sits in a strange place in PlayStation’s first-party library. It’s very much loved by its fans, offering up a different kind of zombie threat to combat, though it’s relatively rough launch and lacking critical reception (which was blamed on “woke” reviewers) compared to PlayStation’s other first-party titles have made it a little bit of a black sheep for a lot of people.
Fortunately for those, PlayStation doesn’t consider Days Gone enough of an outlier to not give it the remaster treatment. It’s been rumored for a while,ever since rumblings of a “less exciting” remasterclose to the reveal of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered last year, but PlayStation has finally confirmed during today’s State of Play that Days Gone is getting remastered, and it’ll be launching on April 25.

To try and justify the re-release, Days Gone Remastered will include an enhanced Photo Mode, new accessibility features, and a Horde Assault mode that looks quite similar to The Last of Us Part 2’s No Return. If you own Days Gone on PS4, you’ll also be able to upgrade to the remaster for just $10, so it’s pretty much a no-brainer.
Of course, this is pretty fantastic news for those that still hold a candle for Days Gone, even if it feels like a bit of a pointless remaster. It might feel like a bit of a punch in the gut for former Sony Bend director John Garvin though, who was recently upset with the Deacon St. John cameo in Astro Bot,calling it “sad” and criticizing Bend for not protecting its legacy.
