Summary

Death Stranding 2: On The Beachrecently received an age rating in Korea, suggesting that it’s release date might not be as far off as we all assumed.

As anyone who has even glanced at a release calendar will be aware of, 2025 is absolutely jam-packed with big games, even if GTA 6 doesn’t end up making it this year.Ninja Gaiden 4,Doom: The Dark Ages,Mafia: The Old Country, andthe Switch 2 are just a few of the notable launches, but there’s one particularly interesting sequel on the way too.

Death Stranding 2’s age rating in Korea.

I am, of course, talking about Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which was rumoured to be in development for quite some timebefore being officially announced at the end of 2022. We’ve not seen much of On The Beach since then, but it looks like it might be further along than you might think.

Death Stranding 2 Has Already Been Rated In Korea

As highlighted by ResetEra user XenoSaga, Death Stranding 2’s age ratingjust popped up on the South Korea Rating and Administration Committee. According to Google Translate, the age rating was completed earlier today on February 6, with some of the themes mentioned including excessive violence, swearing, smoking and drinking.

Unlike the age rating we sometimes see from PEGI, there unfortunately aren’t too many gameplay or story details to be found from the South Korea rating.

Beyond looking rather similar to the first game’s age-rating in Korea while also not really sounding like Death Stranding at all, this age rating having already been decided does come as a surprise. Not too long ago,Kojima seemingly said that the game’s development was only 40 to 50 percent complete, suggesting it was a late 2025 release if it even made this year.

With the game already being given a rating in Korea, though, it’s possible that it’s further along than we thought.Age ratings are usually given to games once they’re content completeand fairly close to release. That isn’t always the case, though,as Hollow Knight: Silksong was rated back in April of 2024, and we all know how that’s going.

Still, even if it doesn’t give us a firm idea of a release window, an age rating does at least suggest that Kojima Productions is getting on nicely with Death Stranding 2’s development. With Kojima recently being spotted editing a trailer for Death Stranding 2, it’s very likely that we’ll end upseeing it at next week’s rumoured State of Play.
