Summary

Before launch,BioWareshocked fans by confirming thatDragon Age: The Veilguardwouldn’t let us import our world states from all the previous games. Instead,we could only carry over three choices from Dragon Age: Inquisition. We were told it was so the team could hone in on these choices, but now that many of us have beaten the game, some have found the reactivity a little lacking.

However, it looks like one of these choices was going to be more impactful: who we romanced. In the final game, anyone who didn’t get with Solas in Inquisitiongets a letter from their love interest, and Dorian romancers get just one extra line of dialogue, despite him and the Inquisitor both being in the game. Now, looking at the game files, it seems that much more was planned.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Cut Content Could Have Let Us Meet Our Inquisition Love Interest

That’s a bit better than a codex entry

This was found by Twitter user @MINRATHOU, who was digging around in The Veilguard’s subtitles files. Here, we can see that there are several lines of dialogue that appear to set up an introduction with all of Inquisition’s romance interests bar Solas. This makes sense - it’s hard to imagine them leaving their beloved Inquisitor to go to Tevinter on their own.

It’s unclear what is going on in this scene - and if no audio was recorded, it may have been scrapped fairly early in development - but it does show that these cameos were considered. Ultimately, The Veilguard went pretty light on cameos, since so few choices could be imported.

Dragon Age_ The Veilguard Takedown on Wraith

This is far from the only piece of cut content thatplayers have datamined. As we covered previously, there’s also evidence to suggest that more decisions were going to be imported at some point, including our decision at the Well of Sorrows.
