Summary

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerorecently introduced a new limited-time mode called Legendary Warrior Face-Off and it hasn’t gone down all the well with fans due to its grindy nature.

Not counting the anger towards Great Ape Vegeta, for a time it seemed that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero could do no wrong, something that was reflected in its sales and critical response. While the first month after launch was great, theconversation surrounding Sparking has quickly turned sour in a lot of ways.

While a lot of the criticism does seem unfair considering how much Sparking Zero delivers on, there are certainly ways that it could be improved. One of the biggest requests outside of more stages and costumesis the addition of more game modes outside of the story mode and online battles, something that the latest update just attempted to do.

Sparking Zero Adds Raid Mode, Players Don’t Like It Much

Earlier this week,Sparking Zero saw a big update alongside its Hero of Justice DLC pack. As well as a litany of gameplay changes, the update added a new mode called Legendary Warrior Face-Off that lets players take on a powerful enemy for a limited time, starting off with Broly (Super).

Legendary Warrior Face-Off is basically Sparking Zero’s equivalent of a Raid, complete with event points that can be earned and then redeemed for Capsules and Zeni. That all sounds well and good, if a little strange for the game, but it’s not going down too well with fans. Over on the Sparking Zero subreddit, the mode is receiving a lot of criticism.

One post from Redditor Earlybird908points out that players will need to win at least 153 times with a specific team to get the 84,000 points necessary to get all of the event’s Capsules, which aren’t even new to the game. The replies to the thread show how players feel about the mode, with most chastising it for not being what everyone wanted.

The combination of the heavy grind and the fact that it’s another online-focused mode in a gamethat most agree needs more single-player offeringshas put Legendary Warrior Face-Off under a lot of negative fire. While it’s a shame to see time taken on something most players don’t want, let’s hope it’s a sign that more things beyond DLC are being worked on for the game.
