Summary

Over the weekend, something pretty significant happened inSonic the Hedgehog’shistory.Sonic Unleashed, the extremely divisive 2008 title that featured, among other things, Sonic becoming a Werehog, was finally made playable on PC via the Unleashed Recompiled release.

It’s an unofficial PC port, as the game was never actually released on PC, despite appearing on every console,as well as mobile phones, for whatever reason.

Beyond finally making the game playable on PC, it adds some much-needed quality-of-life features, including unlocked framerates, ultrawide support and, well, the ability to mod. Now, one fan is attempting to take the concept of Unleashed and cross it over withDragon Ball Z.

Goku The Werehog

Taking to Twitter, Sonic fan and modder, SockTiger, shared a concept of daytime Sonic being replaced by the Kid Goku of Dragon Ball GT. That particular social media post immediately hit it off, with many offering suggestions for how to take things to the next level.

Specifically, if GT Goku exists during the day, then few things make better sense than for Super Saiyan 4 Goku to emerge at night. Currently, the creator is working on a way to add him to the game, as well as a transformation cutscene.

Oh, and as for Super Sonic? Well, that’s just Super Saiyan Kid Goku.

They are even considering replacing Chip with Chiaotzu. Personally, if we’re going with the whole GT theming, then Chip should be Giru, but alas.

As it stands, there’s no firm timetable for a completed mod, but it’s clear that the creator has a ton of ideas to work through first. At the very least, we know that a Dragon Ball and Sonic crossover is more than just a pipedream, and what better game than Unleashed to make it happen.
