The Elpis Ultimate Angler Championship Event was introduced inZenless Zone Zeroalong with version update 1.5. This is a fishing event where you have to catch a variety of fish in New Eridu while also focusing on a small story quest.
However, the event is divided into multiple small sections, and it can be a bit confusing to navigate through all of it and claim all the rewards. If you are looking to go through the event and collect all the Polychromes quickly before they expire, here’s a detailed guide that will ensure you can breeze through it in no time.
Elpis Ultimate Angler Championship Event Eligibility
Elpis Ultimate Angler Championship Eventstarted on June 17, 2025, and willconclude on July 29, 2025. Apart from that, you will also have to reachInter-Knot Level 23and reach Main StoryChapter 2: Intermissionto be eligible for the event.
There is no way to skip these, and you willhave to meet the minimum requirements. Meeting the criteria for the Inter-Knot level can take a while. However, reaching the story pre-requisite won’t take long, and you can reach there within a day or two at most, even if you have a new account.
Elpis Ultimate Angler Championship Event Guide
Most of Elpis Ultimate Angler Championship Event is tied to three major story quests:Ridu Finishing Festival, The Truth Beneath the Water, and Elpis' Ultimate Angler. Your primary objective here is tolevel up the Finishing Permit. This can be done by completing themain story,going through theAnecdotes, and filling up theFishing Encyclopedia.
To complete the story quest, all you have to do isfollow through the dialoguesand the game will direct you to the necessary locations. Talking too much about the story will lead to spoilers, but itprimarily revolves around Qingyi,whom you will pair up with for the event.
You have the option to skip through dialogues in the story quest. However, it’s recommended you go through them, as otherwise the event will feel boring as it’s mostly standing around catching fish.
However, you will also come across other characters who will be part of the Anecdotes. TheseAnecdotes are small story quests, andyou need to complete them to progress through the event. These Anecdotes don’t take too long, and you canfinish them within 10 to 15 minutes.
How To Fish in Elpis Ultimate Angler Championship Event
While the story quests are basically following through dialogues and fighting a few enemies, theactivity that it revolves around is finishing. In order to complete the story, you will have torank in the top threeagainst several NPCs.
Now, finishing is pretty simple asyou areprovided with a fishing rodright away, and youdon’t have to collect baitby yourself. The way this works is, once the fishing begins, you will beasked to throw the hook into the water.
As you do that, acouple of actionswill bring up aprompt on the screenwhich you will have toreplicate. These will mostly include eitherrepeatedly tapping a button or holding down a button. At the top of your screen, there will be a bar that will denote the status of your hunt.
Oncethe bar is full, you will have successfully caught a fish.Apart from the story quests, you can alsocatch other fish in various spots that unlock as you progressthrough the story. There are both common and rare species, and you’ll also find a few Bonus Discoveries.
Every Fish Species And Their Locations
Whenever you catch a fish, it caneither be of low rarity or high rarity. You will have to keep trying until you get the high-rarity ones.
Apart from that, different kinds offish can be found at different times of the day. All the information is provided in the event menu, so you won’t have much trouble.
The heavier a fish is, the longer it takes to catch. Rare subspecies are easier to detect since they will shine golden, even in water. The weight you obtain is completely random, so you will have to keep finishing until you get them all. You will need to catch all the fishes in every weight range, including their rare versions, to complete the Fishing Encyclopedia.

Bonus Discoveries are additional catchesyou can find while fishing or going through the main story. Apart from the ones you unlock from the story, theones you get to catch are quite rare to find,and it can take you a whole day of fishing before you get one.
