InXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, Affinity Quests forge a deep and meaningful long-term role throughout the game. They are, to some extent, the beating heart of it all; whereas Main Quests guide players through the core storyline, Affinity Quests take them on a whirlwind tour expanding X’s vast cast and thoroughly enhancing our understanding of the alien world of Mira.
This is all both familiar as well as, well, alien, to anybody who has played the numbered Xenoblade installments. The Affinity system has roots and extensions in 1-3, but it’s different enough by far to warrant a guide - and here we are.

What Is Affinity In Xenoblade Chronicles X?
For the uninitiated, a quick breakdown is in order:Affinity is a stat which builds between the protagonist and the inhabitants of Mira, includingparty members and pivotal NPCs.
Affinity is not exclusively a matter of the player character’s interactions, mind you;NPCs have their own Affinity levels between one-another.
You canunlock Affinity Questsby fulfilling specific prerequisites linked to completingMain Quests, otherAffinity Quests, reaching certainlevels,and/or raising yourAffinity rankwith a character or characters to a specified degree.
“Ranks” are cited in-game ashearts. Therefore, having two filled hearts means you’ve achieved two ranks, and so forth.
Unlike in other Xenoblade games, you won’t recruit every playable character strictly through the main story -Affinity Quests are critical to acquiring every potential party member!
All Affinity Quests In Xenoblade Chronicles X
We should note that (as of publishing) this is to be considered a work in progress, if only becauseXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition has added at least a couple more Affinity Quests. Consider this a disclaimer just in case we’re still missing any!
