There are a lot of characters available for you to befriend inHello Kitty Island Adventure. By leveling up your friendship enough, you will friendship be able to ask these characters to become your companions and follow you around as you explore. Who doesn’t want a Sanrio character by their side?
As a companion, these characters can provide a wide array of abilities, ranging from walking faster to obtaining more of a certain type of item. In this guide, we are going to take a look at all there is to know about abilities and companions in Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
What Are Companions?
Once youunlock the first ability for a character,they will be able to become your companion. After the first ability is unlocked,simply talk to the character and ask them to join you.If they are busy with a quest, they won’t be able to join. If they are free though,they will join you as you explore.
You will only be able to have one companion at a timeuntil you complete the quest Together Forever.At this point, you may run around with two companions in tow.

What Are Abilities?
Abilities are passive skills thatboost certain activities around the map.For example,My Melody has an abilitythat boosts your chances of getting additional items in exchange for giving gifts. By default,every companion will have one ability, as this is what triggers their acceptance of being your companion.
Several characters in the game have asecond ability that willunlock by increasing friendship even more.You won’t need to choose between the abilities; they will both be active at the same time.

Sous Chef (4 levels)
Increases chances of cooking an additional item (at most stations except the Chef’s Station)
Unlocks at level 12
Causes friendship to increase with everyone 10% faster
Big Smile (4 levels)
Increases chances of getting extra items in return for gifting

Repairing visitor cabins cost 1 less Strawberry Crate
30% chance to craft an additional item
Unlocks at level 10
Chococat will give hints in puzzle rooms
Fashionista (3 levels)
Increases outfit powers
Unlocks at level 13
25% chance to get an extra item while shopping
Fish Whisperer (4 levels)
Increases chances of fish biting

Get one free Game Ticket (you’ll need to go to a game location, and he will then say that he will cover the fee)
Speed Walker (3 levels)
Walk faster
Unlocks at level 14
Pochacco will help you complete island challenges
Critter Calmer (3 levels)
Critters will move slower (this makes them easier to catch)

Reduces movement speed (by 25%) of prizes in Crane Craze mini-game

Best Friend Abilities
To become best friends with a character, you’ll need toreach maximum friendship with them.This varies from character to character, but it’s the final level for everyone. When the best friend status has been reached,the character can then collect items for you.
Any gathered materials will be placed in the Collection Box that you previously unlocked through the Terra Nul quest. This collection isn’t quite an ability, andcharacters can refuse to do it if they are busy.
How To Call Friends
Don’t feel like seeking out a character? You’re in luck! From the menu,you may select ‘Call Friend’.This will bring up a list of all the characters that you’ve met. Any characters that are available will be displayed in color, whilebusy characters will be grayed out.
By selecting an available character,you’ll basically summon them to be your companion.They will run over and replace your current companion (if you haven’t completed Together Forever),allowing you to use their abilities.
