There are basically two forms of quests inAvowed- main quests and side quests. The main quests are unavoidable quests you must do to advance the narrative, and arrive in a set order. The side quests are, well, off to the side and are optional, but help you both level up and discover more of the world.
But it’s an RPG, and more broadly, a video game. You know how this works. Here we’ve separated the side quests by region, but within those we’ve also made the distinction for which are Companion Quests, which are Treasure Maps, which are Totems, and which are Bounties, as well as the regular ol' story quests. With this list, you’ll always know exactly how close you are to seeing every single thing Avowed has to offer.

Main Quests
Like any other game, Avowed has a core set of quests that must be completed in order to progress. Though these (and the side quests) offer choices that can impact the world, the ultimate flow of the game is the same. You’ll hit these quests in this order, and where you are on the list gives you some indication of where you are through the story - although with so much optional content, you can rush through everything, or stop and smell the Dreamscourge.
Dawnshore Side Quests
Dawnshore is the first area you explore in Avowed, and is suitably welcoming to those who wish to wander. With a major city, open fields, hidden buildings, a busy dock, and clusters of the poor and needy, it gives you a snapshot of the Living Lands even before you explore all of its secrets.
Emerald Stair Side Quests
Emerald Stair is fairly similar to Dawnshore, but far more wild and overgrown. Bustling forests, strange glades, ruins consumed by the earth, and ritualistic markings are the hallmarks of this map - and key features in many of the area’s quests.
Shatterscarp Side Quests
Shatterscarp is the hardest map to get around, as its full of valleys and cliff faces that are either difficult or even impossible to move through freely. However, once you discover all of its winding pathways, it has some of the most varied quests in Avowed, so you’ll want to get your hiking boots on.
Galawain’s Tusks Side Quests
The final area (at least that you’re able to explore with side quests and the like) is the volcanic land Galawain’s Tusks, with its central castle Solace Keep. The main storyline here only takes you to the Keep and a couple of locations quite close to it, but it’s worth exploring the whole map to discover its deepest secrets.
