The First Berserker: Khazanhas a surprising amount of systems and mechanics at play that can substantially change the dynamic of what you’d typically expect from a soulslike while still offering that white-knuckled gameplay and exhilarating encounters that force you to utilize everything at your disposal to emerge victorious.

Amongst these systems are Skills that enable you to use potent abilities designed specifically for your weapon of choice, allowing you to take your combat prowess to the next level. However, Skills are handled a bit differently than you may expect, which can be a bit confusing early on!

How To Earn Skill Points

EarningSkill Pointsin The First Berserker: Khazan is the simplest aspect of the system, as you just have to play the game.Landing perfect parries, using Skills, and defeating enemies will gradually fill your Master Level gaugefound within the upper right-hand corner of theSkill Treepage.

But, while you can track your progress, you willsometimes run into instances where you can no longer earn Skill Points until after you clear a specific Main Mission, where you will likely run into some troubles. While youcan still accrue Lacrima and increase your Main Level and Stats, you canno longer raise your Mastery Level and unlock new Skillsuntil you complete the mission.

Spending a Skill Point to unlock the Gale: Scar Skill for the Dual Wield in The First Berserker: Khazan.

ThisMastery Level Capacts as a way tokeep you within the intended Skill-rangeof the Main Mission, making it so youcan’t get too overpoweredbefore squaring off against them. However, after youdefeat the area’s Boss, theMastery Level Cap will be raised, and you can begin earning more Skill Points until you meet the next Level Cap!

More Mastery Levels will be added to the table soon!

Spending Skill Points

Afterreaching a new Mastery Level, you will be rewarded withone Skill Point, allowing you tovisit the Skill Treeandspend it on any of the Skillsavailable. There arefour different tabsavailable:Dual Wield, Greatsword, Spear, and Common. While theweapon-based Skills will only work for those specific weapons, theCommon tab is universal Skillsand can be used regardless of the weapon.

Each Skillwill costone Skill Point, withsome Skills able to be further upgradedwithmore Skill Pointsif you want to unlockdifferent attributes or buff their potency. While we stronglyrecommend sticking to one weapon typeand onlyusing its Skill Tree and the Commonone, you can dip your toe into multiple Skill Trees if you plan to use multiple weapons.

Don’t sleep on the Common Skillseither, has they havetremendous potentialand canincrease your proficiencywith things such asReflection, your Javelin, Counterattack, and much more. While the weapon-focused Skills will have a much substantial impact overall, your Common Skills can be just as useful, so don’t overlook them when spending your Skill Points!

Westrongly recommend using this feature often, even if you will continue using your current weapon type.
