Summary
Final Fantasy 14is in a bit of a state right now. There’s very little to do right now if you’re an avid player, and even less if you’re not into the whole Savage raiding scene. That has been made evident withthe game’s drastically declining player numbers, which have seemingly dropped to pre-Shadowbringers levels, and have most likely already dipped below 1 million.
It’s a game in desperate need of a content injection, and many have their fingers crossed that Patch 7.2 may finally have something worth keeping our subscriptions for. Thankfully, it seems like more casual content is on the way, as director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) has outlined exactly what the upcoming Patch 7.2 series will have in storein his “Stroll with Yoshi-P” interview.

Final Fantasy 14’s Yoshi-P Outlines Content Coming In Patch 7.2 Series
Given that the interview was broadcast in Japanese, the Final Fantasy 14 community took it upon themselvesto translate and share Yoshi-P’s commentson the game’s main Discord channel. Yoshi-P starts out by reiterating that Dawntrail’s Field Operation called Occult Crescent will be included as part of the Patch 7.2 series, and that it will include “something related to support jobs”.
On top of that, more casual content will be coming alongside it, as Yoshi-P also revealed that Cosmic Exploration will also be added in this upcoming patch series too, though he was unsure whether it’s going to be Patch 7.2 or Patch 7.25. Either way, both will be fairly casual grinds that the game has been missing since Dawntrail launched.
Yoshi-P then goes into more detail about the next set of Arcadion Raids, which will also be dropped in Patch 7.2. While he doesn’t reveal too many details about what to expect, he does tease that they may include mechanics that “you’re able to only find in Patch 7.X”. He specifically mentions utilizing downtime in interesting ways, and seemingly wants to make raids more interesting during those periods.
Finally, outside the Patch 7.2 series, Yoshi-P reveals that development has already begun on the next Ultimate, with the plan “already decided”, while work has also been ongoing for “various things” for 8.X too. With some manageable raids for casual players, and two big content drops in Occult Crescent and Cosmic Exploration, Patch 7.2 may finally be giving us something to do.
