Summary

Where the heck is theFinal Fantasy 9remake? That’s one of the gaming industry’s biggest mysteries at the moment, as the title was part of an infamous Nvidia leak years ago. Ever since, it’s only been vague guesses and teasers from insiders, the latest coming from NateTheHate, who claimed the game is still in “active development”.

With Final Fantasy 9’s big 25-year anniversary coming up, it is going to be a little disappointing that we won’t see the remake release for the occasion, but Square Enix did at least launch a new website full of merchyou can pick up if you’re feeling nostalgic. One of those pieces is a new vinyl called Final Fantasy IX Anniversary Vinyl - Timeless Tale, and that title has caused a bit of a stir.

Final Fantasy 9 Fans May Have Already Figured Out The Rumored Remake’s Title

Over on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit,a user by the name of Puzzled-Run-574noticed that someone claimed that the remake might be called Final Fantasy IX Timeless Tale well over two months ago.In this post, a user called TomAto314 claimed that they saw a listing for a ‘Final Fantasy IX Timeless Tale’ at the place where they work.

In today’s post, they clarify that they work at a company that deals with “PC compatibility testing”, and that the nature of their work means it would “make zero sense” for it to be the vinyl that was announced. You’ll need a hefty pinch of salt, but TomAto314 also claims they correctly revealed the name of Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii before release thanks to this method.

It’s not the biggest revelation out there, as we’re still in the dark as to where the game actually is and when it will be officially revealed, but it surely means that it’s at least close given that merch is being released that shares a speculative title. there’s even a possibility that it could show up at this week’s Nintendo Direct, though that will most likely be focused on Switch 2 releases. A man can dream though.
