Summary

Aftera little more than two years of silence since the initial revealofSilent Hill f,Konamiopened the floodgates duringits Silent Hill Transmission presentation on Thursday. In it, Silent Hill f, the first new Silent Hill game since 2012s Downpour, was re-revealed, complete with a new trailer, as well as some plot details.

The near-four-minute trailer wasn’t light on details, and for those wondering, yes, Silent Hill f, will be an M-rated game. It’ll also mark just the second time that a Silent Hill game has had a solely female protagonist.

It’s The First Silent Hill Set In Japan

To start, the game will be available onPS5,Xbox SeriesandPC, and it’ll also be the first Silent Hill game exclusively set in Japan. In f, Silent Hill isn’t a locale, but rather a construct of horror for the 1960s-era piece.

As far as story details go, the official description reads as follows:

“Shimizu Hinkao was living her life as an ordinary teenager. That is, until her town is suddenly shrouded in fog and begins to change in a horrific way. Now, she must explore a town she no longer recognizes while solving puzzles, fighting strange enemies, and doing everything she can to survive… to face the ultimate decision that she must make. This is a tale about a beautiful yet terrifying choice.”

Additional details via the PlayStation Storereveal that Akira Yamaoka will have music in the game, combined with a story by horror author, Ryukishi07. The author is responsible for the popular “When They Cry” series and was cited in the presentation as someone deeply familiar with Japanese horror.

No Release Date And No Word On What f Means

While players can wishlist the game, there is no release date or release window. And if you were wondering what the “f” could mean in Silent Hill f, then that is also still unclear.

For what it’s worth, there were multiple flower references throughout the trailer, as well as mention of friends. Coincidentally, words that both begin with the letter “f.” As for the terrifying decision that is being teased out in the trailer and game description, that part is also unclear, though it sounds like it won’t be something that can easily be inferred after one playthrough.

At the end of the near-hour-long presentation, the team promised future updates via new Silent Hill Transmission streams. Only time will tell how quickly we get those future streams, but things are certainly looking good for fans of the long-running horror franchise.
