Summary
The online outage cycle has found its latest target inCD Projekt Red. While it was brewing beforeThe Witcher 4’s reveal last month, things only heated up when it was confirmed thatCiri would be leading the series now, taking over from Geralt. Predictably, some people had a lot to say about this.
Around this time, these groups began reporting on the fact that some developers had left CDPR to form their own studio, Rebel Wolves, as if this were a new story. In reality,Rebel Wolves was founded in 2022. And despite fearmongering, CDPR went on to launch theCyberpunk 2077expansionPhantom Libertyto great success a year later.

In any case, some started pitting the studios against each other, especially now that Rebel Wolves has revealed its first game, The Blood of Dawnwalker. However, while this attention is on the young studio, Dawnwalker’s creative director has shared some praise for The Witcher 4, going against a narrative being constructed online.
Rebel Wolves Creative Director Shares Praise Of CD Projekt Red
This comes as some try to pit the studios and their games against each other
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the creative director on Dawnwalker, shared this tweet earlier today, highlighting that there’s no need for The Witcher 4 and Rebel Wolves' first game to be in competition against each other
Similarly, a CDPR community managershared some lovefor Rebel Wolves ahead of Dawnwalker’s reveal, encouraging everyone to check the trailer out. Rebel Wolves' marketing lead was in the replies to this, so the two studios certainly don’t appear to be against each other as some had hoped.

Inevitably, attention will shift elsewhere, and these groups will find a new game and studio to go after. In the meantime, it looks like there are a lot of Witcher fans who are excited to see more of both Dawnwalker and The Witcher 4.
