Summary

Grand Theft Auto 6is going to be an absolute behemoth when it launches later this year, there is no denying that. It’s going to make absurd amounts of money, and could make even more than expected ifRockstardoes what seemingly every developer in the industry wants it toand charges fans $100 to own the game for themselves.

Whatever the game costs,GTA Onlinewill undoubtedly be the real bread winner for GTA 6, especially if a recent report about Rockstar potentially turning the title into aFortnite/Roblox-esqueexperience that would allow players to create their own custom experiences in-game.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Could Be Getting Fortnite-Esque Custom Experiences

This is according toa report from Digiday, which has claimed that Rockstar has been in contact with several high-profile Roblox and Fortnite creators, as well as dedicated GTA content creators, about the potential for letting players create custom experiences. These experiences would allegedly allow players to alter the game’s environment and assets.

Digiday has stressed that these conversations are apparently “open-ended”, meaning nothing is set in stone just yet, but it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see Rockstar use GTA 6’s inevitable popularity to create their own makeshift ecosystem similar to that of Fortnite and Roblox. It’s extremely popular in both games, so why wouldn’t it be in GTA 6?

It also helps that Rockstar already has an extremely active roleplaying scene in GTA 5, which is often using unofficial modding tools to create their own experiences, so making an official channel for all of that just makes a lot of sense. Sure, it might seem rather unappealing to everyone that’s grown up with the GTA series, but it’s just sensible in today’s gaming industry.

We’ll only know what Rockstar’s plans actually are until we get more info on the title, which should be happening relatively soon. There were fears of a potential delay earlier this year, though Rockstar has put them to bed for now byconfirming the game will still launch in 2025. In fact, the recently announced release date for Borderlands 4 has convinced some fans that it hassubtly narrowed down the release date even further.
