Summary
For once,GTA 6fans have a pretty compelling theory about its release date. And no, it doesn’t involvestudying the phases of the moonand hoping that the lunar gods bestow upon them the forbidden knowledge Rockstar holds so dear. It’s a little more grounded in reality.
As a lifelong Half-Life fan, I am well aware that I’m a hypocrite here.

Yesterday, during PlayStation’s State of Play, Gearbox revealed thatBorderlands 4willlaunch on September 23. As u/prime-time-814 notes, that’s important because Take-Two owns GearboxandRockstar. It’s unlikely to compete with itself, keenly aware — as other developers like EA, who openly discussed postponingBattlefield 6, are — that launching alongside GTA 6 is a death sentence.
Fans Think GTA 6 Will Launch In November, Just In Time For The Holidays
That most likely rules out September. But u/prime-time-814 also believes that October is unlikely, as Take-Two will no doubt want to give Borderlands 4 a healthy amount of time in the spotlight before moving onto its next big project.
November also lines up with Black Friday and the holidays, which would be perfect timing to launch an entry into one of the most popular series in gaming. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick believes thatGTA 6 will cause a boost in console sales, and what better time to do that than when all the major retailers have huge discounts? The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will be cheaper than ever.
Take-Two also reiterated thatGTA 6 will launch this Fall, which means that it should come out before November 30.
We’re two months into 2025, at any rate, and Take-Two has yet to ramp up its marketing. Details on GTA 6 are incredibly scarce, with only one trailer under its belt. So, we’ll likely find out more about the game from Rockstar itself soon enough, putting to bed a decade’s worth of speculation.
