Summary
Don’t you just regret opening Reddit sometimes? I do. But I’m a serious games journalist (email in bio), so I’m gonna share my regrets withyou, and we can all bow our heads in shame together.Avowedfans, I see you.
You know a game’s doing pretty well when its community startsthirsting over the weird, vaguely humanoid characters. Or just a bear,in the case of Baldur’s Gate 3. For Avowed, it’sa dead mushroom enemy with a thicc dumpy, which as u/cloodhee so elegantly put it, belongs in the “Don’t Put Your Di** In That” subreddit. Seriously, it might look like aFungi, but it’s probably poisonous.

Again, email in bio.
u/morning_thief, however, worries me. “(Sigh),” they commented. “(unzips)”. Unfortunately, they’re not alone. Even though the world is full of handsome fish people and fuzzy, uglySoniclookalikes (everyone has a type), there are alotof fans who are more into spores. “Hear me out,” u/FitBattle5899 said. “Stupid sexy fungus,” u/CokeWest said. “Would,” u/Hungry-Ear-4092 commented.
Not Everyone Is Into Avowed’s Fungal Monsters
But I’d like to counterbalance all this talk of bonking mushrooms with some level-headed debate, like u/CordiallySuckMyBalls, who has really taken into consideration the finer details of getting down and dirty with their mushy pals: “I bet the texture is awful”.
Tough grass brother — u/Expensive-Pepper-141.
u/Wynter_born, who has been downvoted by the Avowed community, just doesn’t vibe with all the shrooms. “The colourful fungal theme kinda grosses me out visually. When I had to choose a ‘godlike feature’ […] I was really turned off.”
But I think u/DeleteIn25 put it best, “Humanity fell off hard ngl”.
