Summary
Helldivers 2players are currently dealing with unprecedented events. The Meridia black hole has moved and completelydestroyed the planet of Angel’s Venture. To add to that, excursions into the gloom have found horrificnew Terminid sub species, and we haven’t seen the worst of them yet. These are truly troubling times for liberty.
While we have been given new weapons and a portable hellbomb to deal with these trying times, what we really need is more heroes. There’s only that much that General Brach and John Helldiver can do on their own, we need new heroes to step up, and some Helldivers have done so.

Parry This, You Filthy Terminid!
Moving on fromcreating portable hellbomb trebuchets, the next big trend in Helldivers 2 appears to be to engage Terminid heavy units like the Charger and the Impaler in Soulslike combat, with nothing but a melee weapon and a shield. Melee weapons were finally added in the Omens of Tyranny update, and later on we got a hatchet and shovel.
Some players have shared videos of them going 1V1 against these massive Terminids, and even including a health bar and inventory like you’d see in FromSoftware’s Elden Ring or Dark Souls series. Despite having enough firepower to take out an entire town, these Chosen Helldivers have decided to hack away at massive health bars and dive away with precise timing.

What better way to build up the morale of a society in mourning than to beat liberty into an enemy in melee combat? Sure, they could have blown these hulking monsters up in a number of ways, but this is a testament to the fact that it’s not our guns, emplacements, or stratagems that are our strongest weapon against the enemies of freedom, it’s our Helldivers.
Angels Venture will be avenged tenfold, we will conquer whatever lies within the gloom, and we will repel whatever the Illuminate throw at us, and we’ll do it up close and personally if we have to.
