PlayStationhas been using its games pretty well when it comes to other mediums. We’ve hada fairly successful Uncharted movie, anabsolute banger of a Last of Us TV show, and theTwisted MetalTV show ended up being surprisingly good too. Not only that, but several other projects are also in the works,such as a God of War TV show, and now Sony is adding a few more interesting projects to the list.
Helldivers Movie And Ghost of Tsushima Anime Announced
Announced at CES 2025, and shared byThe Game Awardshost and creator Geoff Keighley, it looks as thoughHelldivers has become popular enough to warrant its own movie. We don’t know much about the project, as CES 2025 isn’t live streamed anywhere, but Keighley says Sony Pictures will be the one behind the project, understandably, since it’s a PlayStation title.
Not only that, but two of PlayStation’s other big franchises are getting adaptations too. Shared by Keighley,a Ghost of Tsushima anime was also announced on stage at CES 2025, and will be worked on by Crunchyroll and Aniplex. We can see from Keighley’s photo that the anime appears to be based on the Legends multiplayer mode, rather than a straight adaptation.
Finally, it was also revealed at CES 2025 thatHorizon Zero Dawn is getting its own movie too, following the reported cancelation of the TV show back in 2024.It was reported at the timethat the “toxic, bullying, manipulative, and retaliatory” behavior of showrunner Steve Blackman played a large part in its downfall, but it now seems like a movie is being made by Columbia Pictures instead.
All of these projects make quite a lot of sense really, especially theHelldiversmovie, which may as well just be a Starship Troopers sequel in everything but name. Ghost of Tsushima getting an anime was always pretty likely,especially with Ghost of Yotei coming out this yearand possibly making the IP even more popular, and Sony absolutely lovesHorizon Zero Dawn. Here’s hoping they’re all bangers.
