Summary
It’s been a while sinceHogwarts Legacylaunched, with almost two years having passed since the game’s release. It was a smash hit forWarner Bros., something whichit’s found itself in short supply of these days, so you’d naturally assume that there would be some sort of DLC or expansion to capitalize on its success.
According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, that was indeed the case. However, the continued financial struggles for Warner Bros. after a completely disastrous 2024 has now reportedly caused Hogwarts Legacy DLC and a Definitive Edition package to be completely scrapped, despite them being planned for release at some point in 2025.

Hogwarts Legacy DLC And A Definitive Edition Have Reportedly Been Cancelled
Schreier claims that the DLC and Definitive Edition cancelations were part of “an ongoing restructuring” of the video game unit at Warner Bros. Both projects were also reportedly cancelled as Warner Bros. was worried that there wasn’t enough content in the DLC to justify the asking price. It was reportedly going to be developed by both Avalanche and Rocksteady, and focus on a companion storyline that was cut during development.
It’s a little surprising that Warner Bros. would cancel such a surefire bet, especially with how successful the main game itself was, but it’s worth keeping in mind just how disastrous the past couple of years has been for the company on the gaming front.
For starters, it releasedSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which wasalmost universally hated and will forever be a stain on Rocksteady’s resume. Then we haveMultiVersus, which was temporarily shut down due to a lack of players, only to undergo a dramatic relaunch, before promptly getting shut down for good.
Its latest fumble wasthe cancellation of Wonder Woman, and the resulting closure of developer Monolith Productions. All of these combined will have cost Warner Bros. massively, and now it finds itself in a position where it has very few games on the horizon, and a big black hole in its coffers that it can’t fill.
