You’re an adventurer tasked with saving the various islands in the sky in the survival gameAloft. You can soar through the air, moving from one island to the other using your glider, but you’ll also be able to use a smaller-sized island as a ship if you add the necessary sailing elements.
On your home island, you’ll be able to create structures that will serve as a resting space. you may also create different machines that will refine resources and allow access to new technologies. There’s even a way to make all your machines automated for maximum efficiency and convenience using a windmill.
How To Craft A Leaf Windmill
To craft a windmill, you’ll first need tounlock the technologyfor it usinga Vestigefound in theFallen Heights biome. The exact type of windmill you will be able to make is aLeaf Windmill.
To build one on your island base, you will needa few materials:
2
Wood x3
Hardstone x1
3
Leaves x3
5
Rope x2
Wax x1
When you have the necessary items, place the Leaf Windmill somewhere on your islandfacing towards your helm. Before you left-click on the desired spot for your Leaf Windmill, select the style you prefer. Different styles willchange the look of the Leaf Windmill’s blades.
The different blade styleswill not affect your Leaf Windmill’s performance.
When you’re happy with the selected blade style of your Leaf Windmill,left-click to secure it on the spot. You’ll then be able toincrease and decrease its height. As you increase the Leaf Windmill’s height, you will be required tosupply more Wood to your build.
After deciding on the height of your Leaf Windmill, you canadjust the size and number of the blades.Drag outward and inwardto modify the size of the blades. Larger blades will require you tosupply your build with more Leaf Cloth. Toincrease or decrease the number of bladeson your Leaf Windmill, scroll up or down.
Once you’re happy with all the settingsleft-click to finalize the location, style, and sizeof your Leaf Windmill.
How To Link A Leaf Windmill To Machines
To get your Leaf Windmill to automate the work on your different machines, you’ll need toform connections between them. Go to your Leaf Windmill andplace your crosshair on the spool. You’ll then be given an option toeither make links or remove links.
Press E to start a link, then head to a machine and create a connection with it byselecting the spool on the machine. You’ll be able to continue making connections from one machine to another bylinking each from spool to spool.
Machines can be powered by your Leaf Windmill as long as they areconnected by every spool. There’s no need to connect each machinestraight to the Leaf Windmill.
The connection from one spool to the otheronly reaches a certain distance. To lengthen the distance that a connection can reach, you canbuild a Windmill ConnectorusingCarved Wood, Windstone, and a Wooden Cog.
Place your Windmill Connecterin between two spools, and it will allow you toextend the reach of the connections.
How To Get A Leaf Windmill To Work
Your Leaf Windmill will not moveunless wind is being supplied to it. That said, it has to befacing the direction of the windin order to start functioning. If your Leaf Windmill is facing away from the wind,it will jitteras if it were stuck.
The best position for your Leaf Windmill to be in isfacing your helm. That way, your island will be traveling along with the wind’s flow whilesupplying power to your Leaf Windmillas it stands against the wind’s direction.
When the wind direction moves away from where your Leaf Windmill is facing,it will lose efficiency. you may view your Leaf Windmill’s efficiency byhovering over the spool. The number in green showspower suppliedwhile the number in red indicatespower taken by the machines. The result showshow efficiently you are supplying powerto your machines.
Every additional machine at work willraise the red number, reducing your Leaf Windmill’s efficiency. To increase the green number, you canbuild additional Leaf Windmillsand make sure they’re linked anywhere in the connection.
Ensure that yourLeaf Windmills are facing the same wayto have them all perform at their best when facing the wind.
