Monster Hunter Wildstakes you to the Forbidden Lands, where multiple monsters roam in an endless cycle of life. However, some artificial creatures called Guardian Monsters have been popping out from the ruins of an ancient civilization, and you must put them to rest.

Once a lost species, the Guardian Arkveld you met during the main story had an offspring that reverted to the normal version of this monster. So when you’re back out in the Forbidden Lands looking for a reason behind the virus afflicting the Dragontorch, you’ll meet a new old foe.

Best Weapon Damage

Arkveld is weaker on the head, chainblades, and tail; however, the parts of easier access like its wings and torso are the more resistant, so you need to aim as best as possible. Keep also in mind that its chainblades won’t be weak against any element, so you must destroy those by brute force only.

On the weapon side, any type of damage will hit this monster where it hurts, but Bludgeoning and Slashing damage will inflict the most damage. As such, your best options are in the realm of Hammers, Dual Blades, and Long Swords.

While we include the maximum upgrades of each weapon we recommend, remember that any stage of those weapon’s lines will work.

For your weapons, you must aim to wield a Dragon-type damage weapon, which is why the Grimmblick and the Bequeathed Oblivion work perfectly, as you’ll be able to exploit this monster’s weakness. Keep in mind, however, that its chainblades are immune to all elements, so even though you can break them, you must do so by relying on your base stats only.

On the defensive side, this monster will be one of the last you’ll face in High Rank, so any armor set you have maxed out should serve you well. However, you must also remember that Arkveld employs some Dragon-type attacks, which is why you should aim for something that covers that, like the Guardian Ebony Odogaron armor set.

Arkveld - Fight Breakdown And Moves

Arkveld is a very violent monster, and no matter what you do, you’ll be in constant danger. It moves a lot, it jumps a lot, and even though it might be away from you, it also possesses chainblades that it can use to hit you from afar. For that very reason, you must keep yourself in movement at all times.

This monster can use Dragon-type elemental attacks, and whenever it mixes it up with Wylk structures you must get far away from it, as those will explode after a few seconds. On top of that, this monster will create areas of effect that will release explosions of white energy that can hit quite hard, so always mind its position and movements, and act accordingly.

On the chainblades, it will use them to hit you from a long distance; these will hit in a straight line, and Arkveld will repeat it a few times, so don’t rest on your laurels. Whenever it gets enraged, Arkveld will also light them up with Dragon-type element; it is during this mode that it will use its ultimate attack, a progressive wave of Dragon element that will spread forward in a three-part explosion.

Flank this monster as often as possible, attempt to break its weaker parts, and you should be done in no time.
