Monster Hunter Wildsis packed with new monsters for you to hunt across its many varied biomes and environments. There are plenty of astounding monsters in each region, though it is in the Scarlet Forest you will see some of the most interesting. Namely, this is where the Lala Barina naturally dwells.
Lala Barina is a cross between a giant arachnid and a ballerina, flitting about with grace and striking at a moment’s notice. There is a great beauty to this monster, though that also makes them deceptively difficult to battle. Here’s everything you need to know about Lala Barina and how to avoid its paralytic grasp.
Lala Barina - Strengths And Weaknesses
Lala Barina, like the real-life spiders they are based on,moves incredibly quickly. As such, slower weapons will struggle against them unless you learn exactly when they move. It can be easy to whiff your strongest attacks against them as they move around quite a bit, so make sure to only strike them when you can catch them in place.
They are also extremely tall, soyou’ll mostly be attacking their legs until you can knock them downif you’re using melee weapons, at which point you should go right for the stinger and forelegs. The stinger especially is where to aim for, as it is both Lala Barina’s weak point, and breaking it will reduce its range and the power of its paralytic strikes.
Let’s check out the rest of their strengths and weaknesses:
Like a real spider, Lala Barina is quite fragile, andcan be inflicted with just about every status ailment except for Paralysis, though stunning them is the easiest method to use against them, so land attacks on their head every chance you get to bring them crashing down. Fire is a great element to use against them as well, massively boosting your damage and letting you destroy the petals and stinger more easily as well.
With the petals destroyed,Lala Barina cannot spread their florets around until they have regrown them.
Best Equipment To Fight Lala Barina
Lala Barina is a relatively early game monster still, so you won’t have a massive selection of armor to choose from, though they don’t have an excessive number of elements or variety of special attacks either. As such, any of the early armor sets can get you through the fight.
The Chatacabra and Quematrice sets will be some of the strongest you have access to at the moment, so feel free to equip one of those. There isn’t much to give you extra paralysis resistance right now, sojust do your best to avoid the stingerand all of their florets.
If you are willing to go out of your way, you canhunt down some Vespoids to unlock the Vespoid armor set. This offers some extra paralysis resistance, which should give you a fighting chance against Lala Barina.
Lala Barina - Fight Breakdown And Moves
Unlike many other arachnid monsters in the series, very few of Lala Barina’s moves are focused on webs, though that’s not to say they are absent entirely. They have enough agility in their spindly legs to carry them with ease, and so they rely on this rather than webs for the most part, and choose tolock you in place with paralysis whenever possible.
Lala Barina willonly use their web moves when in a large area with a ceiling, such as their nest in the Scarlet Forest.
Here’s a quick breakdown ofeach of Lala Barina’s movesand how best to counter each of them:
Counter
Claw Slash
Lala Barina pulls back a claw, and then slashes ahead with it.
This is quite a short-range attack, so just dodge out of the way. They typically perform this attack after running towards you, giving you advance warning to move away.
Floret Spread
A quick burst of paralytic florets is released around Lala Barina. Can be done while standing still or moving.
Florets can be shot out of the air with a Bowgun or Bow, but simply must be avoided otherwise. The small spread will always be away from Lala Barina, so stay close to them.
Stinger Stab
Lala Barina drops low and quickly pierces behind them with their stinger.
This is mainly done while behind Lala Barina, though can be dodged by stepping to the side. This is a great time to attack the stinger while it’s low.
Large Floret Spread
Lala Barina will stand in place and spread a massive amount of florets around the area.
This attack has a very wide spread, but they fall slowly while moving outwards. Therefore, it is safest to be near where Lala Barina performs the attack. It is also easy to punish Lala Barina during this as they stay still for a while.
Swinging Floret Spread
In areas with a ceiling, Lala Barina will hang upside-down and start spinning, spreading florets everywhere and damaging you if you come in contact with them during the swing.
This spreads like the Large Floret Spread, though they are not as easily approached. Instead, use the Slinger or ranged weapons to knock them down, canceling the attack and giving you time to attack yourself.
Lala Barina is a very agile enemy and rarely stays in place. While they may not have a massive amount of moves, they have many that can easily paralyse you, making it much simpler for them to stab you with their stinger. Fighting them with heavier weapons can be difficult, though with their florets mainly spreading away from them, it should be easy to stay out of harm’s way even with slower weapons.
Lala Barina - Drops And Materials
With Lala Barina, the game introduces to you a monster thatneeds more specific targeting to get all of the pieces you want. Its materials are a bit more copious than the likes of Quematrice and Chatacabra, and may require the use of more specific weapons to really get some of them. Let’s check them out, in order of highest drop rate:
Broken Part (Left and Right Claw), Carving, Target Reward.
Lala Barina Certificate S
Target Reward.
Excluding the certificate, the Lala Barina mucus has the lowest drop rate of allwith no singular guaranteed source, though across all of its different drops you still shouldn’t struggle too hard with it. If you’re playing with a Blunt weapon, then the Claws shouldn’t be too much of a struggle since you’re be aiming to stun Lala Barina anyway.
