The Forbidden Lands ofMonster Hunter Wildsare separated into multiple regions, each one showing a particular ecosystem with all kinds of treasure, materials to harvest, and even monsters. Of course, it’s not like any monster can rule above the others but the apex predator, and each region has its own ruler.

The apex predator in the Scarlet Forest region is called Uth Duna, and don’t get distracted by its majestic, luminous fins; it will likely knock you out if you’re careless. Here’s all you need to know to defeat this enemy.

Best Weapon Damage

This monster is particularly weak to Thunder-type damage and completely immune to Water-type attacks, so do not even think of going down that route; at the same time, Bludgeoning weapons will inflict the most damage, with Slashing closely behind.

Whenever you face this giant, you should aim for the Head and Forelegs, since its front is its weakest side. On the contrary, avoid going for the torso, hind legs, and tail, even though the latter is breakable.

While we include the maximum upgrades of each weapon we recommend, keep in mind that any stage of those weapon’s lines will work.

Uth Duna is particularly weak to Bludgeoning damage, even though Slashing damage inflicts barely less; for that very reason, the best weapons to fight against this monster are the Fulgurhammer Guardiana and the Halilintar Clairglaive, the hammer of Guardian Fulgur Anjanath and the glaive of Rey Dau.

On the armor side, the Piragill Greaves, even though it’s just a piece, will solve the problem of tripping on water, and on top of that it’ll also get you great Water resistance. The Chatacabra set will also give you good Water resistance while also providing two levels of Weakness Exploit, which always helps hit weak points. Last, if you are on the endgame, the Guardian Arkveld set will give you both Weakness Exploit and Partbreaker, further helping you to break every possible weak point.

Uth Duna - Fight Breakdown And Moves

Uth Duna is highly mobile, which is unexpected for a monster its size; it loves slamming its body against hunters, so always attempt to flank it while keeping your aim on the front of its body, as that place is the weakest. It will also employ a wave attack that can make you trip, and you must always be careful with that attack, as it can leave you very vulnerable against a possible slam attack.

While its fins can be broken for a bit, do not mistake this for a sign of the monster getting weak, since those will regenerate shortly after; instead, try to break its face and forelegs. Keep also in mind that its fins act like a shield, so until they disappear, you will inflict reduced damage when you hit those.

Uth Duna will eventually try to escape to its nest—a distant, ruined arena on high territory. If this happens, try to chase it as fast as possible before it rests, and keep unleashing attacks on it until it dies.
