Wooden Barriers - Marked With Swords

The first barrier is so simple you probably don’t need us for it, but the article is called Complete Guide not Mostly Complete Apart From The Stuff You Can Figure Out Guide, so here we are. Any blockagemarked with a sword, which will usually be some wooden slats, can be broken simply by attacking it. Job done.

Breakable Walls - Marked With Explosions

The muchtougher melee barrierscome in the form ofbrick walls, usually with a brick or two missing, andmarked by an explosion icon. These can beknocked down by a power attack(fully charging before releasing) with amelee weapon. However, this only happens if you haveunlocked the upgrade Built To Destroyfrom theFighter skill tree.

Webbing/Brambles - Marked With Flames

When you encounterwebbing or other miscellaneous barriersin Avowed, they will havea flame symbolon them if they can be destroyed. You need to burn them to destroy them, for which you have three options.

Iron Gates - Marked With Snowflake

When you encounteriron gatesthat bring up asnowflake symbol, that means you’re able to destroy them too, byfreezing them until the metal shatters. The obvious way to do this is via anicy projectile like Eye of Rymrgand, but you can alsocast any Frost spell yourself. None of your companions have spells to help here.

Power Switches - Marked With Lightning Bolts

Sometimes, the barriers aren’t actually barriers at all, but are just locked doors. If a door just saysDoor with a lock, that usually means it needsa power switch. You will see anorange shield above it, or somemetal wiring. Follow this wiring to agold button(which issometimes through a crack in a wall).Shoot this with electricityto turn on the switch and unlock the door. This can be done…

Pink Barriers - Marked With A Swirl

Thehardest barrieris the one thatglows pink- this may be a specificpink panel over an entrance, or may berocks that glow with eerie pink essence. Either way, these are impossible to move yourself, asnone of your spells work on them. You will need torecruit Yatzli in Shatterscarpand then useher Dispel Illusion abilityto move the rocks or drop the barrier.
