The First Berserker: Khazanis a surprisingly dense and long experience, with many missions to explore and bosses to eliminate. And the further you proceed through the story, the more challenging and epic things will get, as expected from a title in the soulslike genre.
Veiled Knives is a perfect example of this, and it is a mission that holds no punches from the very start until you finally take down the incredibly difficult boss at its end. This mission is also very, very long, so lock in and get ready to fight your way through the terrors that await you in the quarry!
How To Complete Veiled Knives
At themission’s start,a winding path will be in front of you; follow it all the way out until you reach aBlade Nexus.Activate it for your firstcheckpointandspeak with Tristan,who is standing nearby, before moving onward. He won’t say too much, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!
Making Progress
Follow the pathway from the Blade Nexus until you reach alarge, wooden structure,and follow the ramps down until you run into anUndead Swordsman.Make quick work of them, don’t forget to hit them again before the soul returns to the body, and move forward to see anitem on the edge of a wooden beam.Grab it forx3 Lightning Resistance Elixir.
Continue following the ramps down until you see agroup of Undead begin running toward you.There will be afew Archersin the mix. Try tofocus on them first,then finish off the others. With all the Undead taken care of, push a bit forward until you come across aladderandtake it downto the area below!
A Tough Encounter
From here, as you begin following the main path, aRenowned Spellblade’s Shadowwill round the corner. This enemy issurprisingly challengingto deal with, as they canimbue their Rapier with Lightningwhile alsocasting various Lightning Spellsthat can be rough to deal with.
If you let theLightning Status Effect build up,yourStamina Gauge will be sporadic,sometimesstalling out,making itimpossible to move, attack, or use Skills.Be aggressive,Reflect its attacks, and Counter its Burst Attacksto best it in combat.
After defeating the Renowned Spellblade’s Shadow,walk slightly forwardto see anUndead Summonerin the distance. Use yourJavelinto pick them off, thenthrow another one at them to stop the soul from revivingit. From here, head to thecorpse in the centerof the area andAbsorbit forLacrima and a Soul Tearstone Shard!
Reaching The Camp Site
Stay on themain pathand follow it until you reach anUndead Assassin.It will beinvisible,but you will be able tosee its footsteps as it approaches.Once it’snear you, it will reveal itself,allowing you to engage and defeat it. With the Assassin taken care of, continue until you see aBlade Nexus to the left.Activate it for your secondcheckpointand the chance to take a breather!
Exploring The Quarry Camp Site
Headleft from the Blade Nexusand follow the trail until you come across afew Undead in the distanceby a tent. Use yourJavelinto pick them off, then hit their bodies to prevent them from resurrecting. There will be anitem near the tent;as you approach it,more Undead will come out of the ground.Eliminate them and scoop up the item forx2 Lightning Cleanse Potion!
The Graveyard
Continue following the trail until youreach a sizable graveyard.You will see acorpse on the left.Make your way to it andAbsorbit forLacrima and a Soul Tearstone Shard.SomeUndead will come out of the groundas you begin doing this. Take care of them, only to havemore appear from the staircasein front of you.
There will also be anUndead Summoneron the staircase.Target them first,or they will be resurrected, no matter what you do. With the Summoner taken care of, eliminate the other Undead in the area, thenhead back down to the graveyard,as there’s more exploring to do.
Fromwhere the corpse was, look directly acrossfrom it to seemore tombstones and an Undead patrollingthe area around them. Use yourJavelintopick them off,then make your way to where they were totrigger more Undeadto come out of the ground. Eliminate them as well andloot the itemforConcetrated Fire Essence.
Before moving on, there will be awooden structure with a staircaseleading up to it. Follow these steps to find aCheston top of the wooden structure. Open it to obtain theVillager’s Greatsword, Cleric’s Gauntlet, Necklace of Commitment, and Chaos Clense Potion!
Activating The Shortcut
With the graveyard picked clean,head back to where the Undead Summoner wasand follow thelarge staircaseuntil you reach the sizable platform with an enormous bloodstain. To theleft of the bloodstainwill be a ladder.Kick this ladder downto create ashortcutthat leads directly to the Blade Nexus.
Spend your Lacrima and rest up, thenhead back up the ladderandcontinue following the stairs upuntil you reachanother ladder.Take this ladder up and walk slightly forward to see anUndead Assassin.Like before, wait for it to get close to you, having it reveal itself, then take it down!
Defeat The Elite Renowned Spellblade’s Shadow
Across the bridgefrom the Undeade Assassin will be anElite Rewnowned Spellblade’sShadow. And,yes, it’s as challenging as it sounds.Like the one from the beginning of the mission, it will dealLightning Damage,but it will besubstantially more problematicto deal with.
It hasmore health, deals more damage, and has more tricksup its sleeve. Whileyou still have to be pretty aggressiveto defeat it, youcan’t be reckless.Whenever it attempts itsBurst Attack,you mustCounterattackit.Reflecting its attacks will also be crucialto your success.
Defeating the Elite Renowned Spellblade’s Shadowwill grant you theKnight’s Scroll,Deep Shadow Helm, Devourer of Darkness Helm, Bard’s Wristguards, Concentrated Fire Essence, and Inner Essence.From here,climb the nearby ladderto continue onward!
Oh, Great… They’re Here
Climbing the ladderwill lead you to adirt pathway.As you follow it forward, you will noticemany Spiders.Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse, they drop this on you. Proceed tomove through the areauntil aSpider scurries in from the leftfrom asmall nook near the entranceof the Spider den.
Eliminate the Spider andcheck the nookto find apurple item.Pick it up for anEarth Enhancer,then continue until you run into more Spiders. There will bemany small Spiders and some large onesin the mix, so be careful!
The Pot-Belly Spider
As you begin gettingdeeper into the Spider den,you will noticelots of Explosive Spidersrushing you. And this is thanks to the newPot-Belly Spider.And it isvery gross and very annoying.Essentially, this enormous Spider willcontinually pop out Explosive Spidersuntil it is defeated.
Youronly option here is to rush it downand kill it.Guard the Explosive Spidersandrun past everything else,focusing primarily on the Pot-Belly Spider. After you defeat it and the surrounding Spiders, loot thepurple itemnearby for aLightning Enhancer.
From here, walk to theedge of the walkway where the Pot-Belly Spider wasanddrop downonto the wooden platform tobreakthe firstMysterious Oreresting on it!
Exploring The Spider Den
Walka bit forward from where the Pot-Belly Spider wasandtake a hard right to find a cave sealed off with a thick layer of webs.Use your weapon tocut down the webs and enterthe cave. Awave of Explosive Spiderswill rush you.Guard to avoid taking damageand push further inside. Anorange item will be in the far backof the cave. Pick it up to obtain theMan-Eating Spider’s Scroll and an Augment of Wisdom.
Following this, continue on the main pathwayuntil youreach a ladderandtake it downonto a large wooden walkway.To the rightwill beanother ladder.Make your way over to it andkick it downto createanother shortcutthat leads to the Blade Nexus!
Fighting The Undead
Take theshortcut back up and follow the pathuntil you see abarricadeblocking a pathway.Break through the barricadeand follow the path until you’rebehind an Undead Archerand apurple item.Throw yourJavelinat the Archer, finish them off, and loot the item for aFire Spirit’s Fuel.
Two Undeadwill be beneathyou.Drop down with a plunging attackon one of them, thenbegin fighting the other.MoreUndead will likely see you from the lower area to the right,having them join the fight. After eliminating all the Undead,head to the rightanddown the stairsforx16 Transmutation Shard.
Return to where you dropped downandhead toward the tower.However, instead of climbing it,go to the leftto run into anotherUndead Assassin.Defeat the Assassin and continue following this path to find anitem at the edge of a cliffside.Pick it up for aWater Cleanse Potion!
Scaling The Tower
Begin scaling the towerby taking the many stairs up. But justbefore the final set of stairs,stop on the platformand lookto the left.You will be able tosee the top of the Undead Summoner’s head,allowing you tosnipe it with a well-placed Javelin throw.After hitting the Summoner,sprint up the stairs and hit its bodybefore it resurrects.
There will beanother Undead up here;eliminate it, thentake the ladder up.Once here,two more Undead will emerge from the cavein front of you. Make quick work of them andpush into the cavethey came from todiscover a lift.Take the lift up to reach a newBlade Nexus!
Navigating The Cave
From the Blade Nexus,follow the path until you see a winding ramp with massive boulders rolling downit, crashing into the wall in front of you. To theright will be an open area.Wait for a boulder to pass you, thenmake a break into the areato find anUndead Assassinroaming around.
Defeat the Assassin to havemore Undead appear,and take them out. There will be anUndead Summoner on the cliffside aboveyou, where the boulders are rolling down. Use yourJavelinto defeat it. Youmust hit its body with a second Javelin to prevent it from resurrecting.Follow the path until you see anitem on top of a rockand grab theChaos Disruption Parchment and x2 Chaos Cleanse Potion!
Evading The Boulders
Next,head toward the rampwhere the boulders arespeeding down,wait for one to passyou, and thenmake a break up the ramp.There will be small openings on the right sideof the ramp for you todip into to avoid incoming boulders.There will also be ahandful of Undeadon your way up, so be mindful of them.
Wait for a boulder to pass, sprint to the next nook, and rinse and repeatuntil you are at the top of the ramp. From here,walk through the doorwayto find a lever.Pull the lever to stop the bouldersfrom falling onto the ramp, making future visits less stressful!
Shortcut And Hidden Chest
Slightlyahead of the leverwill be ared light emitting from the ground.Use yourJavelinto hit theworm hiding underneath the ground,killing it in one hit. Directly to theright of the wormwill be adoor.Open it andlook upto see aChestresting on the cliffside above you.
Drop down to the area belowuntil you areat the Blade Nexus. Turn around, enter the liftyou activated earlier, andlook to your left.Onthis wall will be an open entrance you can drop intoafter you activate the lift.So, take the lift back up and run to the wall. Themoment you see the opening appear, step off the liftand onto the cliffside.
Open the Chestto obtain theLost Mage’s Greatsword, Defector’s Ring, Necklace of Wisdom, and Fire Enhancer.You can now drop off the cliff and continue following the main path!
They’re Back
As youproceed up the pathway,you will begin seeingSpiders,with severalExploding Spidersappearing. Deal with them andpush forwarduntil you see apath that branches to the right.Take this path to find alarge Spiderresting at the top and make quick work of it!
Defeat The Pot-Belly Spider
Directlyacross from the large Spiderin the distance will be anotherPot-Bell Spider,which explains the many Explosive Spiders you fought earlier.A Javelin won’t do much to it,so youmust rush at it and take it downagain. However, this time,there are A LOT more Spiders.So be prepared.
Focus on the Pot-Belly Spider, defeat it, then immediately sprint backto the entrance. There will bedozens of Spiders chasing youdown.Pick some off with your Javelinonce you are a decent distance apart, thenfinish the rest of them off.There will be so many here, so it may take a while!
Exploring The Cave
With all the Spiders defeated, you canfreely explore the cave.Begin making your wayback toward where the Pot-Belly Spider wasand lookto the rightto see apurple item.Loot it to obtain aPoison Enhancer.From here,head up to where the lever isandturn leftto see anarea you can drop down into.
There will be anUndead Assassindown here, so be prepared to fight. Once you defeat the Assassin, continue forward until youreach a corpsesitting against a stone formation.Absorbit for lots ofLacrima and a Soul Tearstone Shard,then make your way back onto the central pathway!
Reaching The Citadel
Return to where the Pot-Belly Spider was andpull the lever.Wait for theliftto come down, then take it back to the top.Elameinwill be here, sospeak with herbefore proceeding. After speaking with her, continue into theBandit’s Citadelto find anotherBlade Nexus!
The Bandit’s Citadel
From the Blade Nexus, turn leftand take thewinding staircase up to a rooftopwhereBandits and a Wild Dogwill be waiting for you. Defeat them, thengo down the stairs and inside the building,whereeven more Bandits and Wild Dogsare. Quickly eliminate them and look to the right to find aMysterious Ore.Adoor will be nearbythat you may open, leading you back to the Blade Nexus!
Moving Onward
Rest at the Blade Nexus and thenhead to the right,where you will encountera Bandit and a Wild Dog.If theBandit rings the bell, more will be alerted,sotry taking them out with a Javelin.If they’re successful in ringing it, prepare for Archers, more Wild Dogs, and many more Bandits to appear.
After defeating all the Bandits,walkbehind the wall with the bellto find apurple item.Loot it for aPoison Spirit’s Fuel,thenhead to the right and enter the building.There will be anArcher on the walldirectly in front of you. Use yourJavelintopick them off,then make your way up to where they were. There will be anitem across from them.Grab it forx3 Vitality Sphere!
Brief Exploration
Before heading up the ladder,there will be alarge hole in the wall near the staircase.Head there andlook downto see anunderground area with several Wild Dogs.
Drop down into the area anddefeat the Dogs,then look for theChest in the back cornerof the room. Open the Chest to obtain theReforged Dual Wield, Cleric’s Trousers, Necklace of Life, and Concentrated Fire Essence.From here, follow the pathway to a door to return to the central area!
Climbing Up
Climb the ladderand begincrossing the bridgeto run intoseveral Bandits.Quicklyeliminate the ones rushing youfirst, thenfocus on the Archers,as they can deal substantial damage to you with their Flame Arrows. After eliminating them,follow the path aheaduntil you reach a dropoff. Once here,drop downinto the area below!
Defeat The Knivesveil Destroyer
Before heading up the stairs,go to theright sideof them to see abarricade blocking a doorway.Smash through the barricade to find aKnivesveil Destroyer and a couple of Wild Dogs.Focus on theWild Dogs first, then begin working on the Destroyer.This enemy willhave A LOT of health,so be patient. With the Destroyer taken care of, walk to the back of the room and break theMysterious Ore!
Another Shortcut
From here,make your way up the stairsto findeven more Wild Dogs and Bandits.After defeating them, walk around theright side of the platformand continue following the path until you have todrop down into the area below.Alarge doorwill be a bit forward andto the left;open it to createanother shortcutto the Blade Nexus!
The Final Mysterious Ore
Before you do anything else,there will be anenormous stone staircase to the left of the shortcutthat leads to adoor you cannot open yet.However, thelast Mysterious Ore is also up there;you should take care of it now. To do this,run to the top of the stairs and turn leftto see itresting atop a wall.Use yourJavelintosnipe it.And that’s it! You now smashed all Mysterious Ores in the mission!
The Final Stretch
From the shortcut door you just opened,head down the stairs and take a rightto find adoorway illuminated by torches.Head inside to seeseveral Wild Dogs and Bandits.Eliminate all the enemies inside, thenAbsorb the corpseon the floor to obtain a hefty sum ofLacrima and a Soul Tearstone Shard!
Keep Going
Continue forwarduntil aBandit bursts through a dooron your right, havingmore Bandits ambush youin the process. Defeat these Bandits, thenfocus on the Flame Archerin the distance. After eliminating the Flame Archer,enter the room directly to their rightand head up the stairs. Apurple item will be at the end of the walkway;loot it for aPoison Enhancer!
Another Destroyer
Stay on themain pathuntil you come across anotherKnivesveil Destroyer.This encounter will behandled the exact same way as earlier,except there areno Wild Dogs this time,so it should be slightly easier. After you deal with the Destroyer,continue forwarduntil you seetwo Archersin the distance.
Take the Archers out with your Javelin,then head over to where they were.To the right will be a ladder you can kick down,creatinganother shortcutthat allows you to access this area without having to go through the rigmarole if you die or want to rest at the Blade Nexus!
Dropping In
After kicking down the shortcut,turn to the left and look down into the courtyardto seeseveral Bandits and Wild Dogsroaming around.Drop downto find asleeping Bandit underneath the overhangand swiftly take them out. From here, you may use yourJavelintopick off a few Bandits,then finish off the rest. Acorpsewill beto the leftbeside the spike pit.Absorbit for even moreLacrima and a Soul Tearstone Shard!
Out Of The Rain
From here,head toward the doorwayto have aWild Dogjump out and begin charging you. Eliminate the Dog, thenpush inside.Once inside,turn left and walk forwardto seemore Bandits and Wild Dogs.As you begin attacking them,even more Wild Dogs will appear,so be cautious of that. After defeating them, you’re free to explore this area!
Exploring The Area
With all the baddies eliminated,walk forwarduntil you see aclosed door on the right.Open it to be greeted bytwo Bandits.Eliminate them andloot the itemin the room to obtain aLetter From a Spy.Next, there will beanother closed door directly acrossfrom this room. Open it to find a loneChestin the room.
Open the Chest to find it isrigged with explosivesandrun away from it to avoid taking damage.After it explodes, loot the item on the ground to obtain thePilgrim’s Dual Wield and x25 Treated Blade.From here, head into theback left corner of the area,behind the wagon, to get aChaos Cleanse Potion!
Evading More Boulders
Head back to thecentral area of the building,thengo into the right sectionto findmore Bandits and Wild Dogs.Eliminate all of them in the area, thenproceed outside.You will see anothersteep ramp with enormous boulders rolling downit at tremendous speed, crashing into the wall and exploding on contact.
Stand just to the side of the rampandwait for the boulder to roll pastyou. The moment it does,sprint up the ramp and into the room straight ahead.There will beseveral Bandits and Wild Dogsinside, so be ready. After defeating them, wait for theboulder to roll past you again,thenrun out and grabthex2 Lightning Resist Elixir and x3 Stone,then run back inside.
Wait foranother boulder to pass,thensprint the entire way up the rampand headto the leftto find a ladder. Kick it down to createanother shortcut,thenturn aroundand head over to the lever.Pull the lever to stop the bouldersfrom falling onto the ramp, allowing you to traverse that area safely!
Defeat The Elite Outlaw
In thelarge room near the leverwill be anElite Outlawresting with apair of Wild Dogs,which means you must prepare for an intense encounter.Focus on the Wild Dogs first,thencommit to taking down the Elite Outlaw.Beingaggressive seems to work wellfor this encounter, so long as you aren’t making too many mistakes.
Wait for theElite Outlaw to perform its Burst Attackand execute yourCounterattackto deal substantial damage, furtherchipping away at its Stamina Gauge with perfectly-timed Reflections.Use yourSkillsoften andbe patientto get the best of this formidable opponent.
Defeating the Elite Outlawwill grant you theDevourer of Darkness Helm, Deep Shadow Pauldrons, Bard’s Pants, Poison Cleanse Potion, and Inner Essence.There will also be asmall room in this area with an open door.Head inside to obtainx2 Willpower Orb!
Ambush City
From the Elite Outlaw,follow the main pathuntil you reach an area with anarrow street and a Bandit in the distance.He willring the bell the moment he spots you,sotry taking him down with your Javelin.If herings it, get ready for hoards of Bandits to ambushyou, including aKnivesveil Destroyer.
Flame Archers will also be in the distance atop the wall,so it will get hectic quickly if this happens. If youmanage to get the Bandit in time,you canhead to the right and pass underneath some cover,bypassing most enemies, allowing you tosneak into the next area.If not, you must fight your way through, which will be extremely challenging!
Nearing The End
Proceed onward until youreach a narrow walkway with an Archer at the endof it. As youapproach them,anotherBandit will burst through the door on the rightfor an ambush. Eliminate the Bandits in the area andhead inside the room the Bandit smashed out ofto find aChest.Open it to obtain theImperial Soldier’s Spear, Wanderer’s Shoes, Slayer’s Ring, and Fire Enhancer.
Continuea bit forwarduntil you seemany sleeping Wild Dogs and Bandits.As you get closer,even more Wild Dogs and Bandits will ambush you,creatingpure chaos.After defeating everything in the area,look to the right of the stairsto find apurple item.Loot it to obtain aFire Enhancer!
Calm Before The Storm
Head up the stairs and follow the pathwayuntil you finally reach anotherBlade Nexus.Activate it and spend your hefty sum of Lacrima. Before fighting the boss of this mission,open the door behind the Blade Nexus,which willlead to the large stone staircase from earlier,allowing you to revisit other areas if you missed anything!
Defeat Maluca
Lastly, your final objective is todefeat Maluca,which is far easier said than done. Thismay very well be the most challenging encounter in the game,but it is undoubtedly the hardest one thus far in your journey. He hastwo phases,with thesecond phase being a combination of really sick and extremely frustrating.
