The bulk of your time inTails Of Iron 2: Whiskers Of Winterwill be centered around tracking down and defeating large monsters. However, in the early stages of the game, many of your encounters during the main quest will be cut short, encouraging you to take onBeast Hunts, like Fear The Sky,if you want to finish your battle against these dangerous creatures.
Your introduction to Beast Hunts begins in The Outskirts, where you’ll find a handful of larger versions of enemies to track down. Bird Beasts and Backstabbers are two of the first larger beasts you’ll be tasked to hunt down, the latter of which we’ll cover in The Root Of The Problem.

How To Start The Root Of The Problem

Once you’ve accepted this task under the “Boss” tab, you’ll learn that the farmers found their crop destroyed and a trail of evidence leading toBackstabber Cave.
Traverse the map until you reach the upper left section orfast-travel to the Abandoned Shackif you’ve already explored the area.
You need two Wood Logs, two Stones, and six Gold to construct the fast travel point.

After the Backstabberloses about 33 percent of its HP, it will fleeinto its cave to the left; you must pursue it.
Restock on berries to fill your potion vial along the way and use the save point here before venturing forward.
Themerchantalong the way sells aPolished Slither Scale Hammer, which is a helpful poison weapon for this fight if you don’t have one of your own.

The best times tocounterattack are during the electric attackusing range or right after the rolling attack, giving you a few moments to hit it with melee weapons. After a few cycles, the Backstabber will go down.
Loot your prey, then interact with the marked spot in the center of the cave, revealing a small non-hostile Backstabber Pup,which Arlo sends out of the cave.
