If you’vecompleted the last Beast Hunts in The Outskirtsand The Rift, then it’s time to turn your attention to cleansing the remaining threats in The Golden Forest.
While you’re able to’t achieve 100 percent Beast Hunt completion withoutfinishing the main storyto unlock the final Beast Hunt in The Rift, Outskirts, and Forest, it’s a smart idea to take them as they come to gather materials to make better equipment. Hunt The Slither Scale is one such hunt that will provide you with access to better poison gear, so it’s worth finishing as soon as you’re ready.
How To Start Hunting The Slither Scale
After you finish the last of the Beast Hunts in The Rift, you should speak to the Owl Hunter at theNestminstertavern inThe Golden Forest to begin Hunt The Slither Scale.
They’ll point you to an area directly beneath Nestminster, to theleft of the Hollow Tree sign.
Fast travel to the Hollow Tree area(if you have the sign unlocked), then tread carefully to the left to find your target.
Before you face the deadly snake,equip your best fire and electric weaponsso you can deal extra damage by exploiting the creature’s weaknesses.
Once you enterUnderoot Ditch,you’ll come face to face with a deadly Slither Scale.
How To Defeat The Slither Scale
Dodge the beast’s poisonous attacksand inflict as much damage as possible between its swift attacks. Don’t get greedy or you’ll get caught in its deadly combos.
Using a Whetstone to augment your weapon damage will do wonders to accelerate this phase.
Ignore your ranged weapon andstay close,dealing melee hits in rapid succession while avoiding any ground slam attacks.
Once youdeplete the Slither Scale’s HP to 50 percent,it will flee further to the south side of the map,to the right of the Slither Scale Pit area.
How To Beat The Slither Scale Phase Two
Fast travel to this sign if you already have it unlocked, and refill your supplies and health potion here before pressing onward.
Head into the serpent’s lair anddefeat its Hatchlingsto lure out your true quarrel.
Utilize Erika’s ranged attacks here to draw the Slither Scale’s attentionwhile you stay near its tail, attacking it from behind.
If you’re in a precarious position,use your Electric Elementa to stun the Slither Scaleand follow up with additional attacks to whittle down its HP.
Avoid the Slither Scale’s Medusa-like glare(which can freeze Arlo in his tracks), and deadly poison attacks. Luckily, the poison bite has a long enough windup to safely reposition yourself behind the beast.
Take note of thepoison residue left on the groundafter the Slither Scale slams its body on the ground, restricting your safe spaces to dodge and attack from.
Avoiding damage is as important as dealing damage in this fight,so counterattack only from safe spots after the Slither Scale attacks.
