Avowedtakes a slightly different approach to its world than many RPGs have in the recent decade, opting for a slightly-smaller open-area philosophy than an open-world one. This means there might not be as much area to explore, but it does mean that area could be quite a bit more full.
That’s certainly true in the games' first big open area,Dawnshore. This location has multiple different sections, each with a bit of a different vibe, and each with a litany of chests to find. Each chest contains loot, some of it great, some of it crafting components, and all of it helpful.
Location
The Catch Rooftop Hole Lockbox
Climb onto The Catch, andleap onto the east building with a hole in the roof. Drop onto the platform inside for a small lockbox.
The Catch Platform Lockbox
Justinside the door from the last lockbox, a lockbox sits on a platform by a window.
Second Floor The Catch Chest
On thesecond floor of The Catchis a chest sitting in the corner.
Second Floor Fellowship Harbor Chest
On thesecond floor interior balconyis a chest, set in the southeast corner of Fellowship Harbor.
Underneath Floor Fellowship Harbor Chest
This one is maliciously hidden,underneath a gap in the ground beneath the floorof the first floor of Fellowship Harbor.
On Top Of Fellowship Harbor Chest
Climb from thebuilding to the east onto the roof of Fellowship Harbor, and drop onto the platform through the hole in the roof.
Second Floor Balcony Fellowship Harbor Chest
On the east-facing balcony of awest building in Fellowship Harborsits a chest.
Locked Storeroom Fellowship Harbor Chest
Climb into the room at the top of the building just east of the largest building in the Fellowship Harbor to find the Storeroom Key.This key unlocks the room at the bottom of the west-most buildingin Fellowship Harbor.
Dock Fellowship Harbor Lockbox
Go to thesmallest dock on the west side of the Fellowship Harborto find a locked lockbox sitting on a box.
Underground Fellowship Harbor Chest
Use one of themultiple waterway tunnelsinto an underground room, and crawl into the southern tunnel with an angle into an inaccessible room. Look into the room through the hole in the wall andblow up the explosive barrelto open passage into the room.
Pillar Fellowship Harbor Chest
Near a pillar in the room leading to the locked room, a small chest sits next to a pillar.
Tiny Island Chest
Justoff the southeast coast is a tiny islandextending up from the water. This one requires freezing an area right beside the tiny island, in order to let you climb onto the island itself. This can be done in a myriad of ways, including the Chill Blades spell.
South Island Chest
Keep movingsouth from the last chest through the shallow wateruntil you come up on a couple of small water beetles and a large chest.
Large Island Chest
Headeast to a larger island. This island has a few higher-level enemies, if you’re still lower-leveled, but they do have a small lockbox near them.
Castol’s Folly Smuggler Chest
A little waysup the ruins of Castol’s Follyis a group of medium-level smugglers; on the right of the section where you see them isan elevated platform that holds a chest.
Castol’s Folly Ruins Chest
Further up the ruinsis a small crater; a short way above that is a large chest.
Castol’s Folly Brambles Chest
Justdown and east of the last chest, another sits tucked against the sharp plant life.
Top Of Castol’s Folly Lockbox
At thevery top of Castol’s Follywith the last of the smugglers is a small lockbox.
Bottom Of Castol’s Folly Chest
At thevery bottom of Castol’s Follyon the west side is a ruin of stone and scaffolding; and also a chest.
Ruins Castol’s Folly Chest
On thenorthwest section of Castol’s Follynear the more structured ruins, and past the Philosopher’s Riddleunique weaponis another chest, this one containing Adra.
Shipwreck Lockbox
Off the northeast coast of Castol’s Follyis a large shipwreck, and a small lockbox.
Southern Embrace
The Southern Embrace is not quite the most southern area, but it does take upmuch of the southeast portion of Dawnshore.
Emerald Stair Gatehouse Lockbox
Located in theback of the camp near the Emerald Stair Gatehouseis a locked lockbox.
Dungeon Secret Door Chest
In thedungeon just north of the Emerald Stair Gatehouse, there’s a section with a ladder leading down. Burn the root, press the switch, and go into the secret room for a chest.
Underwater Dungeon Lockbox
Underwater in the first closed door of the dungeon, a lockbox is surrounded by roots under the bridge.
Camp Chest
Just north of the last chest is acamp full of medium-level enemies, and another locked chest.
Camp Building Chest
On thesouth side of that campis a building, and in that building, a chest.
Broken Wall Chest
Further northfrom the last chest, there’s apath leading to a destructible wall. Break the wall for a large chest.
The Rise
The Rise isnorth of the Southern Embrace, and is some of the most difficult terrain to navigate.
Cave Backpack
Asmall cave on a ledgecontains a backpack, just northwest of the last location.
Runyd’s House Lockbox
Inside Runyd’s House, on the second floor, a lockbox sits on a dresser in a bedroom.
Ledge Backpack
On aledge slightly northwest of Runyd’s Houseis a backpack; you’ll need to create a platform on the water in order to get onto the ledge.
Breakable Wall Chest
Just behind a breakable wallnear some ruins west of Runyd’s Houseis a chest.
Ruins Lockbox
Higher up on the ruinsof the last chest is scaffolding, and on that scaffolding is a lockbox.
Justnorth of The Falls, a chest sits near a cave.
The Falls Camp Chest
In aXaurip camp to the west of The Fallssits another chest.
The Falls Ruins Scaffolding Chest
To thewest of The Falls is a fairly large ruins; in these ruins are quite a few chests and lockboxes. One of these chests is on asecond floor scaffoldingthat you’ll need to jump to.
The Ruins Rubble Chest
Lower in the ruins and amidst quite a bit of rubbleis another, more ornate chest.
West Ruins Locked Chest
In thebuilding just west of the last, a locked chest sitsby a broken pillarand cracked floor.
North Ruins Chest
Sitting crooked on a pile of rubblein the corner is the final ruinschest here, sitting just beside a broken wall.
South Ruins Chest
A waysouth from the last cluster of ruinsis another; this time a different architectural style. A chest sitsnear a cluster of pillarsin this ruin.
Crumbling Ruins Chest
Slightlynorth of the last chest, the ruins contain another chest, this time in afairly large room.
River Ruins Lockbox
Further south still is another smaller ruin, this time right next to the river. This ruin has a lockbox inbetween two skeletonssitting across from each other.
Waterfall Chest
Behind the waterfallnear these ruins is another chest, as there so often is.
Underwater near the waterfall, a lockbox sits fully submerged.
Overgrown Frontier
The Overgrown Frontier has a lot of greenery, andalso what amounts to a large dungeonin the strangleroot.
Small Shack Chest
Inside a small shack on the northeast sideof the Overgrown Frontier, fairly close to a bridge, lies a chest.
Strangleroot Cave Chest
Just after the exit of the cave, dropping down is going to reveal a backpackattached to a skeleton.
Strangleroot House Chest
Closer to theentrance of Strangleroot Cave is a dilapidated house; in that house is a chest.
Strangleroot Lockbox
Justsoutheast of the last chest, a lockbox sits near a destroyed table.
Strangleroot Chest
Zig-zagging back southwest, a chest sitsnear an overgrown ruin of a house.
Abandoned Shack Chest
Outside of the strangleroot, anabandoned and slightly overgrown shack sits near the river; in that shack is a chest.
Seaside Cavern Lockbox
On a ledgeto the extreme west of the Overgrown frontier, a lockbox sits in a cavern.
Stuck in the cobwebs of this caveis a backpack.
Southeast of the Seaside Cavern, a camp sits nearing the big wall separating sections. In that camp is a locked chest.
Camp Skull Chest
In that same camp, just to the east, another chestsits near a couple of different varieties of skulls.
Ivona’s Threshold
Ivona’s Thresholdsits south of the Overgrown Frontier, containing quite a few different notable landmarks, like a dock and a graveyard.
Wall Lockbox
In thebroken wall separating zones, a lockbox sits inside the structure.
Wall Backpack
Further east on this same wall, a backpack sits in the middle of rubble and greenery.
Wall Chest
Further east still, a chest sitsinside a cave accessed by swimming underwaterfrom the river near the wall.
Graveyard Locked Chest
A locked chestsits near the graveyard, and requires thePyromancer’s Keyto open.
Graveyard Chest
In the graveyard, a chest that does not require a chest sitsin a partially-dug grave.
Cliff Backpack
Sittingon a cliff overlooking the water on the west sideof the zone, a backpack sits with a nice view.
Tree Backpack
South of the last backpack, another one sitsleaning on a tree, also near the water.
Dock Lockbox
Directly east of the last location, a small lockbox sitson a dockover the river.
Justacross the river, a backpack sitsunderneath a cloth overhang.
Watermill Backpack
South of the last location,a watermillsits on the river. In that watermill, a backpack sits.
On thesecond floor of that watermillsits a chest.
Pond Backpack
At theedge of a small pond in a ruin to the westsits a backpack.
Cliff Backpack v2
On another cliff,this one west of the pond, sits another backpack overlooking the water.
Big Building Locked Chest
In a bigbuilding to the southeast, a locked chest sitsby a pot and a barrel.
Big Building Ornate Chest
A fancy-looking chest sitson the west side of this building, near some rocks.
On ascaffolding inside that big buildingsits another chest.
Big Building Rooftop Backpack
On thetop of that big building, a backpack sits forgotten on the roof.
Lighthouse Cliff Backpack
Quite nefariously hidden, a backpacksits to the west of the lighthouse, on the cliff. Be careful with your footing on this one.
On top of the lighthousesits a chest.
Claviger’s Landing
On thesecond floor of the northwest building in Claviger’s Landingsits a chest.
In astone tunnel near the water, a lockbox lies.
Platform Lockbox
On aplatform on the west side of Claviger’s Landingsits a lockbox.
First Floor Chest
On thefirst floor of the southwest Claviger’s Landing buildingsits another chest.
Still in Claviger’s Landing, another lockboxsits underneath the longest dock.
Dock Backpack
Northeast of the last, a backpacksits above the beginning of the short dock.
Fractured Shore
The Fractured Shore has theleast going on when it comes to chests, but what it lacks in chests it makes up for in other areas, like Xaurips.
Cabin Chest
In a cabin on the largest landmasshere, a chest sits under a tarp.
Shipwreck Chest
Another chest sitsin a shipwreck to the southof the main landmasses.
